I've had this experience numerous times, several of them with State agencies.
The website will let me create a password of sufficient length and complexity when I create an account.
When I go to the log on page, the password field only accepts 15 characters (arbitrary example) and I can't even use the password that I was allowed to create. I then have to reset it to a less secure password to fit the field.
Humans, no longer having purpose and still allowing unrestricted procreation, will find themselves hungry and without means of employment due to overly stringent requirements demanded for the few jobs left. These people will form gangs and these gangs will ravage the nation for the spoils until we have those shiny, highly protected bastions of the rich as depicted in the movies surrounded by war zones.
Why don't these scientists start working on a new form of government and a way to get rid of cash as the artificial barrier to everyone living a good life? Instead, they sit around theorizing over how to write a science fiction novel.
You're just going to end up with proprietary chips and such all throughout every device with no way to source parts except the manufacturer. This is a no-win situation for the consumer.
Great, now I'll get even more boobs in my text messages! I'll finally find out that one weird trick to get the search box in Amazon to show the characters I type in real time instead of 3 seconds later. Messengers hate me, click here to find out 15 reasons why.
As far as I can tell there are only two states of affairs:
Business is regulated, leading to government monopoly over price controls. Not good for the consumer when the government is corrupt, as nearly all are or will become.
Business is not regulated, leading to corporate monopolies over price controls. Not good for the consumer as corporations are only ever concerned with profits and they are quite happy to band together to price-fix things and drive out any competition with anti-competitive practices.
Neither state of affairs is optimal at the consumer level.
Ketchup and toothpaste prices double after new coating used in containers. Manufacturer's claim an increase in "value" due to the customer getting more mileage from a bottle or tube. Sizes remain the same.
Do I go with "The left is crazy with their fake renewable scams burning up taxpayer money and their bogus global warming" or do I go with "The right is crazy with their big oil conspiracy to swindle the public for billions and destroy the planet"? I just can't decide which crazy to go with these days. I guess I'll just keep getting my news from GodlikeProductions. They seem to have a handle on crazy.
Therefore, Twitter, a commercial entity, must serve all people equally. They do not get to pick and choose what they deem is hate speech. That is for the government to decide, not a commercial entity. Of course, when you label everyone who doesn't agree with your views as "white nationalist" I guess you could try to make a case based on that bigotry.
In a separate bid, Slashdot, not to be outdone by Google or Facebook on the fake news front, quotes "An anonymous reader quotes a report from The Verge" as the source of a heart rending and chilling tale that grips us all.
Whose facts will they be checking against?
It seems to me that everyone now has their own brand of facts and that every time I hear the words "fact checking" what they are really saying is that they are checking information against their own personal or organizational bias. This is particularly evident when facts are checked against statistics that are derived from loosely based correlations, something that is rampant in our society currently. An example: A went up as B went down: there is a correlation. There is an obvious flaw in that assumption and yet that exact logical flaw is abundant and pervasive throughout our news outlets - it is not science. This has led to a complete breakdown of trust in the media outlets of the United States.
Given that Google is prone to use machine learning to solve its problems, they are virtually certain to feed in or create statistics of this dubious nature whether they wish to or not.
That's my two cents.
We are bringing Democracy to North Korea! Once we liberate their internet, we can install Google's Conversation A.I. to enable completely uncensored conversations and finally put an end to the tyranny.
I just use two 3TB usb 3.0 drives and run a software called Allway Sync. I've used it for years now and haven't had any problems. It analyzes your folders and makes it's own folder to store data on changes. You are then presented with a list of deletions/additions/changes that you can check through and verify that you have indeed performed those actions. It will sync in any direction you want. You can also schedule automatic backups (I wouldn't, for obvious reasons). I carry a 256gb usb stick with me everywhere that contains files that are truly important to me. I have found this to be the easiest method for daily use.
All of these breaches are being publicized and outed by the companies because they can then offload responsibility back to you to have your cards changed and account numbers changed, etc, without having to put out much in revenue to mitigate the issue. The corporations are still shifting the onus onto the customer. While they make take some action, they are all attempting to mitigate the fallout with these revelations. As such, they are all waiting until the breaches occur and then doing something rather than taking preemptive steps to stop the problem from occurring in the first place. They still need to be punished properly each and every time to make this behavior disappear.
High paying jobs that everyone is qualified for, otherwise known as field saturated, low paying jobs. We have 500,000 open jobs. We want you to train 50,000,000 people to do those jobs. Next up: Pay-per-Character coding which leads to massive sprawling code horror.
Wow, it takes a limited amount of skill to come up with stupid ideas, who knew?

Theater movies... Not even once!

Just what I need: A TV that not only spies on me but lies to my face as well.
I'm so glad I changed my 'real' name to Ball Zack many months ago.

How many backdoors does a US supercomputer built on Chinese hardware come with standard?

That "private company" excuse didn't fly with those people who didn't want to bake that cake, now did it? Typical hypocrites.
Uh, no. I do not follow a religion of any kind. Good try being a dipstick though. A for effort. Good luck with that.

Er that is how a democracy works, ie most votes should win.
This is a Republic, not a Democracy.... have you people never even heard the pledge of allegiance????

Yeah, it's cash time right up until you get hit with a skimmer at the ATM.

Patent #5034543958934453 : Draw pictures on a cave wall, on a computer.
I identify with using the womens bathroom. When will they be installing urinals? I'm getting sick of this discrimination!
