This is a stretch, but from the article: "The $1 million investment goes specifically to OB1, the newly formed company headed by CEO Brian Hoffman, previously a cybersecurity and IT consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton, who has headed OpenBazaar development from the beginning. "
Remember Booz Allen Hamilton consults for the NSA (Snowden).
"The report admits that Privad would probably need to be disseminated 'through adware-style software bundling, shopping discounts, toolbars or other incentives.' "... or the OS!
Oh Noooooooo! We must protect the insurance industry at all costs!!!! We shouldn't be allowed to advance into a safer future if it means the insurance companies may lose a few percentage points in the market! After all, their main reason for existence is investment, not liability protection!!!
I don't know of any futuristic (or past) story where being stamped is a good thing.
Common property that is stamped:
Slaves
Livestock
Office furniture
Consumer goods
I'm none of these.
"how will we provide for them?"
"We" will not provide for them. They will provide for themselves. Anyone who is wealthy enough to pay for such god-like care would be able to take care of themselves.
But, more to your point, if there are more consumers, they will still be competing for resources. It takes resources (energy) for a wealthy person to pay for (acquire) the powers of immortality. But, since they have the power to acquire, they also will have the power to out-compete everyone else for resources.
So, don't think of the problem from a socialist perspective but from a capitalist or competitive/Darwinian perspective since social Darwinism will most likely always be a major factor.
Yeah, and the Department of Defense should take it's original more accurate name, the Department of War.
The Dept of Veterans' Affairs should be renamed to Veterans' Benefits Watchdog.
The Dept. of Education should be renamed to Dept. of Indoctrination.
The Food and Drug Administration should be renamed to the Food and Drug Cabal.

With a properly crafted EULA, localhost will no longer be "yours".

We are trading the low probability risk of being killed by a terrorist for the high probability risk that we will be living in 1984 on steroids.
they're more intuitive.
