  1. Re:computer capabilities on Games in High School? · · Score: 1

    Hey, I'll play this game.

My 20th reunion is Saturday :-)

My high school didn't have any computers until after I graduated -- in fact I created a local sensation (big newspaper writeup) when I took my own personal (and brand new) TRS-80 Model III into my Senior English class for two weeks to write my final term paper (which was required to be written in class).

The year after I graduated (1982) the school got its first computer lab, with about half a dozen Apple IIs...

Just as the guy earlier in the thread thought that a 35mm print had higher resolution than the digital source there are audiophiles who pay $5,000 for a $250 Philips CD player in a different box - and will still wax lyrical as to the quality of the drive mechanism making the difference.
Never underestimate a geek's capacity to rationalize the purchase of an expensive piece of hardware, especially to other geeks. Crafty "high-end" audio and camera equipment marketeers have exploited this successfully for decades. Purveyors of digital technology are just getting into the swing of it...

A quick check of the referenced site shows that the Riverside Press-Enterprise is another Belo property. Besides the "©2002 Belo Interactive Inc." at the bottom of the home page, you can click on the "Press-Enterprise" link in the left-side nav bar to get a page that says The Press-Enterprise Company is a Belo Subsidiary.

Belo can't be prosecuted for deep-linking to itself.

...But alas this is not so, and consequently I refuse to become a political activist. I do not have the time or money to fight the corporations that are raping our system on a playingfield of their choosing. Until true campaign finance reform is enacted there will only be two groups who's voices are heard in Washington, the extreme groups who sway enough voters to matter to the politico's, and the coroporations with who's money they can buy the great uncaring masses.
    Catch 22.

Until we "fight the corporations that are raping our system", there is ABSOLUTELY NO CHANCE that any meaningful campaign finance reform will be enacted.

Choose or lose. Democracy is not a spectator sport.
