My problem with this, is that Miltary experience is not given the same weight as civilian experience. I had 8 years active duty experience, and when I went to look for a job, I had one person as my experience, and when I told him, he sighed, and said "Oh...hmm..", and that was the end...
8 years of 7x24 experience, and on a ship with no helpdesk to call...I had to learn the hard way, and become self sufficient. What value does THAT have??? Add to that, I was in school for 2 year solid for computers...not semesters with breaks in between...2 years (365x2)...
Having worked on the very ACLS mentioned, I can tell you that the technology used in the CURRENT ALCS, is very, very old. The program used to land these multi million dollar planes is loaded with paper tape. I know this, because I used to load it every day, and we had to rewind the tape by hand. And if the tape reader glitched in the middle of loading...rewind and start over...I can only hope that the new JPALS will be better.
Even still, we were able to land an F/A-18 within a 3 meter square. Enough to get the 3 wire.
I was once on an Aircraft Carrier (USS Midway), and my assigned bed and living quarters were right below the flight deck....This might not seem bad at first, but this was the END of the catapult, and where the catapult stopped after shooting jets off the ship.....24x7 of "sshhhHHHH BOOOOMMMMM!....clang, clang, clang, clang, clang...sshhhHHHH BOOOOMMMMM!....clang, clang, clang, clang!".....not to mention when the jets landed.......BBBBBOOOOOOMMMMMM!!!!! All day, and all night....for weeks at a time....And to add insult to injury, I had to share 4 showers with 180 other smelly guys, and wait in line for EVERYTHING! When I say EVERYTHING, I mean, from waking up to going to sleep, and everything in between....yes, I had to wait in line to pee...
This is similar to a person from say a family name of "Smith", and they name thier child John...How many of these John Smith's are there??? Even and SSN isn't enough to tell them apart. This is where the retinal scan comes in...You would have to steal John Smith's eyeball to get a new "fake" ID....
Just a thought...those are still local aren't they?
Maybe it's the query of the data, and the results, that they own....the data is all there, just the order, and arrangement is copyrighted?
Just a thought.
What about the TNG..."THERE ARE 4 LIGHTS!!!"...where Picard was controlled (shock collar style)....
