  1. Re:I find beatles music incredibly boring on While My Guitar Gently Beeps · · Score: 1

I'm not sure the Beatles were ever considered rebellious, (except perhaps in the American Mid-West). Certainly in the UK they were seen as the clean-cut, parent-friendly option, especially when set against the Rolling Stones. This was played up by both camps at the time, as it was seen as driving sales and popularity.

If not for the Beatles, there would be no Rolling Stones. It's easy to forget that in the period between 1959-62 or so, pop music had turned away from rock and roll. The arrival of the Beatles made rock and roll popular again.

Personally I never really liked The Beatles music, although I can appreciate the influence they had on many bands who followed. I wouldn't call them 'Easy Listening', as to my mind that implies a much safer, blander style of music, but they were definitely 'Pop' rather than 'Rock'.

Go back and listen to Neil Sedaka or some of the tripe that was being played on the radio between '59-62. Then tell me the Beatles aren't rock and roll. Plus, you presume rock and roll can't be pop music. Your ignorance irritates me so much, I wrote an entire post about it!

Ringo was the best drummer in Liverpool, and was already famous in his own right when they hired him. He may have been lucky, but he was also wholly deserving of his job in the Beatles. Ever notice how they all used him as a drummer even after the Beatles broke up? That's because he was an excellent drummer. Pretentious music snobs will try to make you think they're smart by attacking Ringo, as if you'll be surprised that they DARE to go after someone in the Beatles. Too bad they're completely wrong.

PCs, however, never stop progressing so that within months they surpass anything consoles are capable of. And actually, at least with this generation it was more consoles caught up to the capability of PCs than that they actually surpassed them.

PC tech doesn't stop progressing. However, specific PC *does* in fact stop progressing the minute you take it out of the store. With consoles you never have to experience that frustrating feeling of games getting progressively slower and slower on your once-bleeding-edge hardware. If anything, performance improves over the life of the console because developers learn the ins and outs of the hardware. Meanwhile, on the PC, developers target a narrow range of high-end PCs and if you're out of spec, you just have to deal with spending hours tweaking settings, downloading drivers, huge framerate drops when you enter a new room, etc. And if you decide to upgrade, you have to worry about screwing up your Windows installation, or creating some other unforeseen incompatibility with your older games. I'm too old to mess around with that stuff anymore, I prefer to grab the ol' Wiimote and start gaming immediately.

Using Twitter and Facebook when you're at a game is distracting at best, narcissistic at worst. However, the assumption that they are using to fuel their ban - that personal accounts and expressions are somehow not admissible, that CBS has a monopoly on communication - is dangerous, and should be protested. You can laugh it off and say, "There's no way that this is Constitutional," but you should stand up for your rights. As lame as it may sound, they should organize a huge Twitter contingent to post at the same time, and see if they can get kicked out. That would show people how out of touch the SEC is, and that people's rights cannot be signed away, with OR without their consent.
