How about an HP Pre? You can root the device with the manufacturers' blessing-even play NES games or hack it so you can use the Wifi to share your 3G signal.
WebOS is real Linux with real multitasking and a better interface than iPhone (especially the contacts) and yet it seems like most geeks ignore it.
I'm the same age as you and watching in the theater is one of my earliest memories. Lining up out to the street, getting a free Star Wars Marvel Comic, drinking a giant Dr Pepper etc. But people who take Star Wars too seriously discount it because it has too many puppets. I guess only the wrinkly green puppets are worth their consideration.
"Liberals" are the ones who prohibit young people from discussing religion in schools.
You are sadly misinformed. No one wants to stop students from discussing religion, or forming religious groups. What the ACLU opposes is teacher-led prayer in state-funded schools. Is that really that controversial-keeping religion a private matter and keeping the state neutral on such issues?
A tortured metaphor about lotion modded "Insightful"?
Well done, moderators. Well done! Now get back to bailing out those huge banks, because rich people shouldn't have to deal with the consequences of their actions, only those dumb poor people who took out mortgages they couldn't pay.
Socialized risk, privatized profit. That's the modern fascist America!
I'll never understand why people shit on Return of the Jedi. Didn't you enjoy seeing Luke reach his full potential, and Darth Vader recover his good side? Also, compared to the prequels, Return of the Jedi is a masterpiece.
You and me both, pal. A consistent interface and a fully open Linux-based phone that you can root with the developers' blessing. And yet, it seems to be an also-ran for most geeks. Maybe the Pre2 will change that.
Fighting 4Chan is a bad idea. But exploiting them for money? That's new! Will this trend extend to other vendors such as Doritos or Mr. Pibb? Maybe that infamous "Dollar Menu? I'd hit it!" ad that seems to advocation burgersex was actually aimed at 4Chan.
Because of the VGA box which provides excellent color separation and 480p, the Dreamcast actually looks very good on modern HDTVs. If your HDTV doesn't have a VGA input, you can pair it with a VGA to HDMI adapter from Monoprice. I have the DC hooked up to my 42 inch plasma for an occasional game over Power Stone 2 or Crazy Taxi.
Not only is he an ass, he forgets to mention that some early games won't work with the VGA adapter at all...so built-in VGA would still need to include a switch to set it back to composite/s-video mode for those games.
The Green Car Detroit sounds like the name for one of those awful hipster bands. Silicon Valley sounds like a porn star. And everyone knows that hipsters don't have dicks, so I guess it makes since that they aren't related.
So long as you have encrypted connections, what's wrong with using 'the cloud'? I don't think you'll find any modern phone that syncs email with a desktop email client anymore. Why the heck would that be desirable anyway?
Also, I'd like to put in a plug for the HP Pre. The contacts and email applications on WebOS are better than what I've seen on Android or iPhone. You can have tons of calendars and even multiple Exchange accounts on the same phone.
My experience has always been that the fewer people there are around, the smaller the community, the fewer security concerns there are.
Yeah, that whole meth epidemic must be a figment of our collective imaginations.
Not to mention that small-town communities are a power unto themselves-much easier for corrupt cops and politicians to run the place. Is it any wonder that the best and brightest often leave for the city?
Stick with PC MMO games (I'm a ddo fanatic). They make console games look like toys for toddlers.
That's true. Then again, PC MMO games also makes Microsoft Excel look like toys for toddlers. Heck, even going outside seems simple and fun compared to those soporific behemoths!
And save for some hardware issues, i think the xbox 360 is an excellent gaming platform.
Yeah, and besides some hardware issues, the Fiat is really reliable automobile.
The guy who designed original cooling system for the 360 thought it was just for a prototype. When he found out they were going to push it out the door with his cooling system so they could make the '05 holiday, he quit in protest. You're talking about a company that knowingly sold a defective product for years. Every single 360 motherboard has the Red Ring of Death. Most of the designs aren't much of an improvement over the 33% failure rate of the original. Maybe the Slim 360 will be, but that's the same thing they've been saying for the last 5 years. How many chances do you want to give them?
Shoveling defective products on the market is much more offensive to me than removing a feature that nobody really used in the first place. I don't like the dishonesty, the frustation and waste of time when the inevitable happens, and I don't like shelling out my hard-earned money to buy the same thing twice, especially when I know I'm going to have to buy it again.
Celiac has been around for centuries. Dante Alegheri, poet who composed The Inferno. suffered from it. Peanut allergies have been around as well-it's just that until recently, helicopter parents didn't try and insist that every lunchbag within 5 miles of little Johnny be screened for peanut traces. The increased awareness has fooled you into thinking it's a recent phenomenon-kinda like how fundie churches try to argue that homosexuality didn't exist until the 60's.
I know it's trendy to hate chemicals because they have long scary names, but we value science a little bit more on this website.
Fourth, and maybe most telling of all, is the Obama administration's recently proposal of $8 Billion in loan guarantees for the nuclear power industry. Translation -- nuclear power is such a bad investment that nobody wants to give them any money.
Of course it's 'bad investment' from the perspective of people looking to make money. Building infrastructure is always a 'bad investment.' Yet we all benefit from it. Nuclear power is still the safest and cleanest energy out there. Clean coal has been shown again and again to be a lie. Nuclear power is used in Japan and throughout Europe. Let's take the plunge!
My point is: real life is XXX-rated. Every time you pull out your weenis, you are exposing yourself to a "cock flapping about"-your choice of words, not mine.

I pity the fool who wastes bandwidth whining about theoretical Slashdot users.

Careful, if you keep unloading all those straw men, you're not gonna have any left to protect your crops.
God as a programmer/BOFH?
A little masturbatory, don't you think?
Where do you go clubbing? 1990?
Why yes, at the 1990 Club. How did you know? Are you reading my DNA?!?
If you ever go to Houston, check out Joystix arcade. They have a cabinet, and it's 3-player!

I saw that! Fantastic movie about the Street Fighter scene. I guess no studios picked it up. I wonder if you can buy that somewhere.

Oh, you can get a plasma TV bigger than 65 inches. Check Panasonic's website. You can expect to pay $15,000 for it, though...

A "cock flapping about" isn't something a child would normally see in the U.S.
Unless they bathe with Dad, or God forbid, are a male child themselves!
