  1. You can have BOTH on iTunes Disables MusicMatch · · Score: 1
After you install iTunes just reinstall music match and viola both applications will respond when an iPod is plugged in.

The fun part is getting one of them to stop.

  2. Vice City = Miami Vice? on GTA3: Vice City Announced · · Score: 1

Hmmm 1980's, vice city, I hope we get the Miami Vice sound track with it. Why do I see the main character wearing a white sport jacket? I wonder if we'll be able to check out South Beach. We all know that they were hinting at Miami being chosen (the police chief, the airport, billboards, etc.)

Whatever it is, it's gonna be cool.

The problem comes when you purchase airline tickets to a show or conference and then use your credit card to pay for the hotel. Then if the company doesn't pay you back you have nothing to show for the debt.

I had a company that told me to use my own credit card for these expenses. I was pretty upset when it took them 2 months to reimburse me. In my opinion anytime you've got to purchase something for the company make sure to use company funds.

Personally I think they should send something like this (totally tongue in cheek of course):

    Dear Web Administrator:

The editors at Slashdot.com are about to link to your site. With your mandatory donation of $XXXXX we will make a mirror site available to you. This mirror will be made avialable for the next few days and will be linked from our article. This small donation will spare you and your ISP the severe agony and humilitaion of failing a slashdotting. If a donation is not made we may consider running the offending story every 2 to 3 weeks.

Maybe if Slashdot used a more extortion oriented buisnees model they wouldn't have to charge for advertising free page views >:).

Maybe Slashdot could also charge to not run stories. I would love to see Microsoft pay up.

    Happy Slashdotting!

  6. Soap box conspiracy theories (mod away). on Microsoft Settlement Comments · · Score: 2, Interesting
I don't know about the rest of /. (I have a feeling, though), but I have a couple of serious problems with the way the comments have been handled (mount soap box).

First: Only the major comments are receiving any attention. Only corporations and funded organizations are able to devote the time and resources required to prepare a reply worty of attention. I haven't seen any numbers but I wonder how many individuals are considered in the 47 major comments. Could they take into account a random selection of other opinions? This would allow for minimal goat sex, but a chance for the average Joe with two lines to say get heard.

Second: The DOJ is the one doing the sorting. Isn't this their proposal being commented on? Isn't it in their best interest to limit the number of responses? Why bother sending in comments if the DOJ gets to remove them? Again a random selection of other comments would help. You'ld get a better idea of the true number of people for and against the proposal.

That said, (step down from soap box) I'm glad to hear that the opposition to the agreement seems to have been able to have their say. I'm also very glad that this is a system that allows for public comments on a hot topic. It could have been settled behind closed doors without any knowledge of the proceedings much less any influence on the outcome.

The new palm that ships with the USB cradle zapped the USB port on a G4 desktop and G3 laptop in my company.
One way we avoid this is only hotsync with the power unplugged and only charge without the USB plugged in.
    Ugly.

Extreme programming is like extreme skiing. It goes downhill very fast and usually crashes somewhere along the way. The only situations where I've seen succesfully applied is in training new recruits. Usually one of the fools ends up doing all of the work.
