I have friends who are technophobic and are always convinced that they have "a virus". As they have no need for the extra cycles, this can be a useful security blanket for that type of user.
They have a premium product that includes "Antivirus, firewall, (NAC), encryption, app and device control" and they offer their virus scanner for "small businesses" but they don't try to scare individuals into upgrading to this. They don't even sell a "personal premium" edition. http://www.sophos.com/en-us/products/free-trials.aspx
The thing I do have to ponder though, would Google actually step in the same way Apple did, should they go after Android developers? Up to this date, they have not taken responsibilities for any patent issues phone makers have faced, despite being as capable to interfere.
That's interesting, I wonder why they picked iOS devs first.
So Mr. Jobs, do you plan on replacing it with a rack mountable mini with redundant power supplies or can I slap a sticker on my poweredge and call it a mac? The alternative is the fancy imacs everyone loves get tossed to ebay come the next refresh cycle, and I'm not the only one with a headache from this.
I don't think y'all understand that Steve don't care.
That's how financial people do it, they compare last quarter to the same quarter the year previous. That way you don't get terrible reductions after the holiday quarters.
one time I saw two of the random encounters where the person is being chased by wolves overlap, in addition to it being wolf country, so there were at least two other packs in the area. It was pretty wild.
Yeah Red Dead Redemption was pretty good with the sandbox. If its map were as large as Just Cause's it would make the game better/longer. I liked exploring
Yeah, same here, the only multi-player games I've enjoyed haven't been very massive, just playing with friends against a computer in Starcraft or whatnot.
is it?

bon mot
to be fair (although it may have been different then) Sophos' scanner software on OSX is free:

#2 isn't a "good reason" it's "I needed a second reason because I already said two"
flash uses 100% of whatever core you give it

I like how the wording of the article implies a causal relationship between the EFF's call and Apple's actions.
Note to EFF: you had nothing to do with this.

and if you are using a Mac, I recommend
http://boxerapp.com/
(It uses dosbox)
io9 to nature
lightweights
that makes sense
not to me
doesn't 0.0000% equal 0.000049999999999999999%?
I like that I have a DVD burner, but with a single 1GB jump drive I have reduced all of my CD/DVD burning to just about zero.
I guess Dropbox also figures into the equation.
that was a quote from 6 months ago, repackaged to look like it was said in response to the latest location conspiracy.
It isn't that great an analogy.
Zombies are able to infect anyone they can bite.
The analogy would be more apt if only albino zombies could infect the mac users.
It's not that great an analogy.
Zombies indiscriminately target humans and are able to infect them all, at least in all the zombie stories I've heard of.
yeah, I stopped using clamxav a while back to free up RAM. I also never get flu shots.
that leads to a blog that summarizes the real article:

That quote from Apple isn't a new one in response to the latest kerflafle, it came from inquiries last summer.
Your comment needs to be rated higher than it is.

bam cougar attack!
The wolf packs got a little old though.
