I've never played a $60 game that's really worth it (to me). I've played a few that might have cost that much at launch, but that just means I won't be buying it new. $20 seems like "that game is awesome, I think I'll buy it" territory, Call it $30 with inflation.
I'm glad rich kids support my gaming habit by paying $60 though. That's much better than the current trend of DLC games.
To add another data open-world datapoint, I've got 90 hours in Just Cause 2
Just Cause 2 was pretty good, the story was still laughably short. I really expected the end to be Act 1 of 10 (ok, at least 3). The sandbox missions really start to feel like grinding after a while: "Oh this is the radio tower there will be X guys, Y things to blow up, and a first aid kit right over there."
I was playing Red Dead Redemption for a month or two and was still only about halfway through the story.
2months? What were you averaging, 7 minutes a day? I'd guess that story was about 30hrs at moderate play-speed. Oh, unless you really like bad poker simulations.
how much is the 8GB? I think many customers when comparing the Archos to the iPad will think less of the 8->16GB difference than the notiPad->iPad difference.
A) both of those are gross profit numbers (i.e. they don't take into account the cost of running the store) 2) your "$1 billion a year" link says "$857 Million. That’s right people, not even a Billion bucks."
Right, but Nook as an Android tablet does not make money for B&N from book sales. I see your larger point, but the nook has to be hacked to be an android tablet.
Also, everything I've read points to the app-store being the loss leader for Apple (or more of a break-even leader)
and it never occurred to you that the nook is sold at its price because Barns & Noble expects to make money on ebooks? So maybe a $200 android tablet isn't tenable?
I think it's you who doesn't understand this. You're required to offer an in app subscription if you offer one out of app. Apple only gets 30% off the in app sales, but the option does have to be there.
So I'm guessing you didn't read my post past the first line. Maybe read it again and then come back and talk to me
I know I would love to have Apple strong arming Time Warner when it comes to billing ux [sic].
hmm, seems like you, like many/.ers misunderstand how this works.
They would have to put an option to subscribe in the app and if you did Apple would take 30%. If you continued subscribing in the usual manner Apple would get nothing (beyond 30% of the cost of the app if there is one)
Maybe TimeWarner made a deal with apple and will be exempt.
Maybe they are trying to get this app out there so their customers will complain to Apple after the app is taken down in June.
I know I would love to have Apple strong arming Time Warner when it comes to billing ux.
I'm not sure Time Warner Cable is doing much OTA. I think they offer WiMAX sometimes, but that doesn't have anything to do with their television service.

This isn't to stop identity theft, it is to keep advertisers from tracking you.

I could be wrong though.
wow, how much does the iPad cost in British Pounds? In U$D that's $415, less than $100 cheaper than the iPad2
I think the term I want instead of "gross profit" is "revenue"

Or perhaps if Barnes and Noble sold 7million nooks that were then rooted and turned into android tablets, they'd go out of business
If apple were to sell a brick, they would sell much more than a normal brick, because of the 'prestige' that buying an apple product brings.
yeah, haven't you seen their apple design awards, that's much more than a normal brick :D

(At least presently)
seems easy enough for most developers
right.

Fair punishments aren't punishments, they are costs.
I didn't because I knew what money was.
an ipad could let you watch tv anywhere within wifi range of your house, how many 50" TVs are you going to buy to cover that?
That's not what I said. I said: "I know I would love to have Apple strong arming Time Warner when it comes to billing ux."

no "[sic]", ux means "user experience".
