I get a very small amount of spam (3-5 messages each day). To keep it that way, I only give my real e-mail account to friends or REPUTABLE web sites. That way, if I start getting email notifications, I can always opt out or find some other way of getting them to stop, simply because they exist as an organization and can thus be contacted (unlike a634fhfg7a@hotmail.com.)
All the newsgroups I read (using my ISP's servers) are completely clogged with spam. It would be nice if they would set up filtering, but I also don't want to miss any legitimate messages that might get thrown out by the filters.
Actually, spammers on Usenet have been doing that quite a bit - I see ads with subject lines like "P.O.R.N" or "p o r n" that seem to be attempts at dodging common spam filter settings. It's really, really irritating. You might be better off writing a statistical analysis engine that uses standard, keyword-based filters, but can analyze words to determine if they might be permutations of the filter triggers.
Recent events have served as reminders that those who do not live in Washington or New York are still linked to and affected by them somehow.
Boston received its reminder in the form of several arrests at a local hotel, and a bomb scare that resulted in a portion of the city being closed by police.
People in the seemingly distant city of Portland, Maine have had to watch as the FBI searched through their city in search of leads.
Canadian cities were terrified by a KAL jet with an operating emergency transponder (which turned out to have been triggered by a low fuel warning.)
I have seen many people in the past couple of days who are deeply affected by this tragedy. I have seen many who simply don't seem to give a damn. I hope this serves as a reminder that *nobody* should be apathetic about these events - they affect us all.
So does this mean that they can't read *any* emissions from someone's house, regardless of the type? Does this mean that we won't have to resort to TEMPEST shielding to ensure that our RF emissions remain private? Or are they saying that this just applies to things like thermal scans?
I was wondering when FIRST would get some coverage on/. A bunch of my friends are at the competition now, with our team's screwed up robot. Oh well. GO TEAM 246 (Overclocked)!! w00t!
SCSI, anyone? :D
Not all drives have to run at ATA-33 speeds...
Exactly...
"LOL d00d I g0tz t3h 41X burn4r so I AM BETTER lolz!!"
It doesn't really make a difference.
I just bought a shiny, expensive new 24x burner a few months ago. Stupid technological advancements make me look bad... *grumble*
Most of MSI's motherboards currently use red PCBs, as do many of Gainward's video cards.

That also sounds like fun.
This is quite cool, but Novocaine-induced numbness is kinda fun. :D
