It's more about the intended market than the manufacturer. If you're willing to shell out the money, HP's business laser printers don't have any of these stupidities.
Yet... At the prices of toner carts for HP LJ4000 series and up, I wouldn't put it past HP to make users replace them after a year. Granted, my office goes through a full toner cart about once a week. Of course, we buy generic refilled carts with no problems, so HP can bite me!!
And, BTW, my home printer is an Epson and I'm using chinese filled cartridges I bought off eBay for $3.00 each and they work exactly the same as the Epson brand. You overcharge me, I'll find someplace cheaper.
I paid my phone bill for four months straight by bouncing from MCI to Sprint to AT&T. MCI gave me $50 twice, Sprint gave me $75 and AT&T gave me $100 after I told them that Sprint gave me $75 and to make a better offer.
The great thing is, I use my cell phone for all my long distance. I just use the land line for back-up dial-up.
Already has. I've been a happy customer of NetFlix for a while now. I just cancelled my account today because of this. I've got 40 movies in my queue, 35 of them have been unavailable for months. I can't even get new releases anymore. I like renting old movies (actually a big reason why I stuck with NetFlix), but I shouldn't be limited to them.
This article has gotten me so infuriated, I cancelled my account, and told them why in the comment space when I cancelled. I'm very curious to see how they react.
I was kinda pissed that they had the Sawzall out, and all they could hack off was the trunk and the roof. Jeez, c'mon! 1 driver don't need all that floorboard. And why keep the fenderwells there. Such a lack of effort on their part.
Granted, anytime you see a ricer cut apart, always puts a smile on my face.

You young whippersnappers only remember back to the 80s?? Why, back in the good old days, we were lucky to get 300bps over an acoustic coupler AND WE LIKED IT! Why, my first computer didn't even have a modem. We had to DREAM of 300bps!
That'll make the THIRD copy of Terminator 2 on DVD that I must buy!! And I thought the previous Ultimate Edition would be it. Jeezus, Terminator 2 is turning into the Evil Dead series with so many versions available on DVD.
Could you imagine how much less esteem the Wizard of Oz would be held in if they jitterbugged in it?
However, look at The Blues Brothers. Even when the film was released in 1980, the music and dancing was outdated. And that movie rocks!
Granted, the entire film of The Blues Brothers was the old music. Yes, the Jitterbug bit would have lessened that part of the movie. I certainly don't think it would have ruined the entire movie, though.
Look at the depiction of computers in early 80's movies (WarGames in particular). Look at the early CGI in Tron and The Last Starfighter. Us geeks look upon those movies with definite nostalgia and respect. Time will tell how future generations will view those movies (but my 6 year old boys love Tron, and they were raised on Pixar movies).
And the moral of my story is.. don't post when you're bored at work, you have a tendency to ramble.
We haven't heard a peep from him in ages(not that this is a bad thing, actually.
Sshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! You might awaken him! With the lack of school shootings, he's fallen into the slumber of ages. And we certainly don't want him around pontificating about the war.
1) Since when has CNN, NBC, etc had a strong conservative bias?? Obviously, I'm watching the wrong channel. When 90% of journalists working for a 24 cable news channel voted liberal in the previous 3 elections, that has a tendency to skew the reporting of that particular channel.
2) Notice that Clinton was never criticized on TV for the things that actually mattered. Campaign donations from foreign countries is the kind of thing that causes presidents to get impeached (and they actually get kicked out). CNN was more interested in cigars and stained dresses.
3) And if you consider PBS to be unbiased, what exactly do you call liberal?
I mean used them as a search engine? I've used Yahoo for the Yellow Pages and to view some pictures hosted by a Yahoo Group. I can't even remember how long it's been since I used anything but Google as my primary search engine.
They did, until they realized that they were giving Google more business. So, they bought Inktomi and used that instead, thinking that the market share of Google would drop. Didn't work.
However, is an appeal there anything like an appeal here in the states. An appeal in the US isn't about re-trying the case, introducing new evidence, etc. It's about the court reviewing the case as presented in the original case and seeing if there was an error in judgement made by the previous judge.
Of course, IANAL. Everything I needed to know about the US Justice System, I learned from Judge Judy.
Normal newsoutlets have one April fools joke. Why does slashdot have to be different?
Because jokes are supposed to be funny. Internet April Fools Jokes are inheritently un-funny. Even the supposedly funny sites, like SomethingAwful, can't even be funny on the one day in the year when they're supposed to be funny.
Only those programs that are allowed to be recorded and archived by AOL/TW. And if there is an archive, how far back do you think it'll go. And if you want to go farther back than 2 weeks, will it be an additional fee (i.e. Washington Post, New York Times).
Besides, if you forgot to tape an episode of Junkyard Wars, big deal. Most of the time, it's re-runs anyway.

WTF?? Let's play Lawyer on Slashdot???
"Come 'ere sonny! I'm gonna have to fire you!" "Again grandma?? It's been three times this week!"

But if you had sent in the rebate, that wine would only be 50 cents.
but the artwork for the new PokeMan game is just too damn literal!
in five feet of snow! Both ways!

Well, hopefully my AthlonXP 1.53Ghz will be buff enough. My 2GB of RAM BETTER be enough (frigging MS bloatware!).

I feel so left out. Why didn't anybody call me??

Hey, two more channel slots to be filled with Pay per View!! Spiderman, every half hour on the half hour, whether you want it or not!
I think Murdoch has a ways to go to catch up.
OK, didn't know that. Shows you how long it's been since I've used Yahoo's search engine, eh?

Granted, let's hope they'll be better shots and not as prone to suggestions from old men in robes.
