Like most banks in Europa allready have? If I make an online purchase with my CC I always have to confirm it with the cardreader (2FA). Only Eve Online (online game) does not get those checks any more because I pay them every month with the CC
The problem is not making an atmosphere in Mars (we are sure capable of doing that) The problem is preventing the sun to blow it away again. Mars does not have a (strong enough) magnetic field to protect de atmosphere and surface from the radiation
Besides the point that steam-games on Linux get installed as user and not with root privileges? Sure the software could ask for root, but the password prompt would ring alarms instantly
Even with spam filtering off on your account If the host does SPF-checks (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sender_Policy_Framework) (most likely) they will filter out 80% of all spam before it even sees a spamfilter.
I'm using Linux for about 11 years already.
Back in those days you had to recompile the kernel to get wifi working and I don't remember how many times I broke X when playing around as root.
I quickly learned to do that in a VM and not on my daily pc:)
Setting up Linux was difficult but when it was set up it ran without any problems (unless you wrecked it as root like I did). In comparison : Win XP crashed by just looking at it.
In all those years I only used Windows for my education and later on VM's to test websites in IE/Edge. For the rest Linux.
RedHat, Cent-OS,Suse,Ubuntu, Debian. I don't care. As long as it is Linux:)
Most likely that a pc from the organisation got infected and the website got updated from that pc or that the FTP-login got stolen.
As a hoster we see "hacked" websites sometimes and it is always the pc of the customer. The server is nicely up to date.
Any Linux distribution you like is fine, but for working stuff I would avoid Arch/Fedora-alikes.
They are bleeding edge distro's. While it is nice to have the newest stuff, they have a taste of breaking down ones a while.
Debian stable is the other end. Old software, but rock solid.
For in between : look at Ubuntu / Mint / Suse
You can install a LAMP-stack on all of them. Even generate your own self-signed certs for https-testing.
Then complain to the hardware makers that they should include Linux-drivers also on that disk?
Not like the makers behind Linux can help it if the hardware makers don't make drivers and don't give specs.
On what type of hardware are you trying to install Linux?
It is true that Linux does not support all hardware, but it supports more then Windows out of the box (without driver CD's).
Second video card. Sound like Nvidia? => http://bumblebee-project.org/
Blame Nvidia for this that it took them ages to add support for it in their drivers!
I personally never use hibernate (takes longer then cold boot), but standby works without any problems on my pc's and laptop.
Still it is dependent on the hardware. If you try to install Linux on a Windows-machine most of the time it will work, but not always.
Which desktops are you looking at? You can have a simple desktop in Linux, a fancy bling bling (way better the aero) and everything in between.
You can choose the want you want, you know
I have different Linux machines (desktops, servers and laptops) and NONE have any problems accessing the network/internet for years.
8 a 10 years ago yes, at that time I had to compile the wifi-drivers myself but now?
click, click, done.
Only problem I have is getting the games to function well trough wine........
I'm just trying to get the windows pc's out of the business here.
First trying the pc's downstairs (no MS-office)
later the pc's in the office:)
Die Microsoft, die.

You think that software can't turn one date into another?
We to, after they refused to unblock our hosting-server from the mail-blocklists (something about a website not up to date. Was fixed in 24 hours).
Now think about pump-servers (areas that are below see-level!), air traffic control, etc
More devices can be attacked then just webservers

If I recall the story correctly it took him 81 days because of that police officer.
He actually made it in 80 days (79 on calender)

In a lot of countries the EULA is not valid if you can't see it before you buy the software!
Even then : the law goes above every EULA.

1) 2) 5) 6) ? 10) Some of those fields allready exist ;)
YYYY-MM-DD is what that field used under water (exposed to javascript/form) The field displays the date in the local format ;)
We use them to display the data spit out by the CRM-system.

More like needing a mechanic to maintain your engine and brakes.
Right and everyone uses tools like that? Sure if you need programs that don't run on Linux, then Linux is nothing for you. But it can be for others.
Thanks for the list :)
Dropped them in the company DNS server. Good luck MS sending data if you can't resolve the domains >:)

There is no cure against human stupidity

No, but when I want to use the laptop on the way I just put it on standby.
