That argument assumes jammers would be used responsibly. If cell phones aren't being used responsibly, what are the odds that jammers would be?
i imagine that the odds would be identical to the odds a person would use a cell phone responsibly (however "responsibly" is defined).
in the end, only i can define what responsible cell phone (or jammer) use is for me. anyone else's definition is beyond my control. and i think that i use my cell phone "responsibly" most of the time.
terrorist a: hey, wouldn't it be funny if we could make everyone in america take off their shoes at the airport?
terrorist b: yeah! let's find someone stupid enough to wear a shoe with explosives and give him a lighter that doesn't work! we'll put him on a flight and make sure someone knows about him.
terrorist a: hahaha! hey, what if nobody could take shampoo with them on a flight? wouldn't that be a hoot?
it is my opinion that without parental involvement in formative developmental periods, independent learning cannot be a part of one's repertoire of choices during adolescence. i was lucky. my parents actively encouraged me to love knowledge and to gain it outside of the regimens of my immediate environs. i think that situations similar to mine become increasingly rare in a growing culture of willful ignorance.
although the educational system in this country may be broken, it is merely a part of this problem.
i fail to understand why the u.s. government is treating this guy so badly. granted, he used expertise gained by his employment to do some of the things that he did, but c'mon... he is (was) doing the u.s.'s intelligence services a favor.
i would think that activities such as this would be encouraged, but then again, we're talking about a system whereby the government rewards only those within a proprietary complex of contracts, etc. maybe this is just a little more evidence that that system needs to change.

if i stop breathing, i will likely experience withdrawal symptoms so severe that i will die. i keep working on the first step, though...
i admit i am powerless over oxygen--that my breathing has become unmanageable.

it seems as though you're responding to something that was not said.
what was said: Intelligent, rich people don't file completely baseless lawsuits.
what you said was said: Intelligent, rich people don't file baseless lawsuits.
there is a distinction.
