There has always been quite a bit of sexual innuendo in kids movies.
The great thing about that is that it all goes straight over the kids' heads (who just laugh at the way Miss Piggy says "long") and allows the poor parents who have to sit through a kids movie to have a few laughs as well.
Check out many of the old Merry Melodies cartoons and you'll see much of the same. Adult comedy hidden within a child's medium.
And what you don't know is that Galileo did have quite a bit of proof..
for example: 1) the sun has spots (not perfect as the church liked to think) 2) Jupiter has moons which revolve around it, which means that Jupiter is an object, not just a spot on a perfect sphere 3) Venus has phases (like the moon, from crescent to full) 4) the moon is a physical place... all those funky spots that look like a face are actually 3 dimensional: mountains, craters, etc.
And yes the church was bad and evil because several of the cardinals looked at Galileo's evidence and understood its implications perfectly well, but chose to punnish him in order to save face.
The only problem with fade to black detectors is that some shows, take Frazier for example, fade to black during the show itself. Then you lose part of the show.
Another way of blocking ads that I've heard of is monitoring the closed captioning, since commercials tend not to be closed captioned (AFAIK).
The problem is there isn't a definite "if X then its a commercial" relationship to rely on. There never will either. It's death to a network to say broadcast some information along with the way you make your money so that people can ignore them and put you out of business.
Just do yourself a favor and switch to PBS (although those "sponsored by" notes are getting very close to commercials these days).

Those fights are crucial for the underlying current of manipulation of Ender. They were breeding for someone incredibly smart, but also incredibly ruthless.
When Ender is forced into a fight he will win, and he makes sure he wins for good.
Oh well, I'll go see it, but if they butcher it as much as Starship Troopers, I'm going to be depressed for months.

Otherwise you just spend all your time creating network connections, and you never actually get anything done (diminishing rate of returns). Since this only has 8mb of ram, and is a slow processor, the cost for communicating via ethernet would be relatively high, and its ability to carry out complex calculations on large amounts of data would be very low. Yes, but given the average computational power of people I've dealt with (don't even try to consider accuracy here) I'd take my old 386 over a 6 billion node computer made of such shoddy parts:)
AFAIK the reason it is believed that the Big Bang created more matter is that we are unable to observe large groups of antimatter such as antimatter galaxies (as would be consistent with a universe full of both matter and antimatter from the Big Bang).
Now this experiment may cause some changes to that model (and then again it may not).
As long as people refuse to at least consider the scientific evidence of the world about them rather than stubbornly cling to outdated and misguided dogma, the human race will continue to fight progress every step of the way.

First of all, many of these theaters are not allowing any people under the age of 18 in PERIOD. Not with an adult, not with a parent, not at all.
Secondly, it's one thing to prevent minors from viewing content without the knowledge/permission of their parents or guardians, but the government/MPAA/theaters should be superseeded by the will of the parent.
The only form of censorship which is even remotely defendable is that of the parent.

If you read my comment, I agree that this is a nice idea *in theory* but there's really no guarantee that Microsoft will bother to do anything but slap this on a couple of press releases and ship the same beta-quality software they always do.
I applaud Microsoft's intentions behind this test, but it really won't benefit its end customers.
Howabout releasing some specs as to what hardware this machine is on, and what security settings they are using.
We're not even certain they haven't made unfair modifications to their code (say randomly changing usernames and passwords if someone brute hacks them). Is this a realistic level of security which can be maintained by the average sysadmin, or will you need to hire half the NT 5.0 development team.
Say someone does crack this system. Or everyone fails? Then what? Are we going to recieve detailed data on what people tried and succeeded/failed? If not we have no assurances that Microsoft will even attempt to fix any security holes they find.
Essentially Microsoft has created a marketing gimick, nothing more.
