This also makes ethics defined by a body who's ethics change from administration to administration. Not to mention the fact that it can also be used as a tool by the state to teach us from a young age what is acceptable and what is not. The state can change and so can the curriculum taught by it. I'm sure there were plenty of "ethics" lessons in NAZI Germany, but not the ethics we have come to understand today.

So we have the philosophical aspect of gaming. Does it make you a bloodthirsty killer or whatnot.
We have the engineering standpoint. Obviously tons of game specific coding skills.
Not to mention hardware engineering specifically for games
We have games as works of art. Character design, texturing, model building...
Throw in a "phys.ed." class and I think we've got the beginnings of a gaming university.. Can you imagine the kind of revenue and the amount of people to try and attend such a place...
Coming soon to an ivy league near you! "Gaming U" A really cool place to go to school...except that it's light on girls.
Personally, I like the asteroid scare much more than the "red" scare.. We can't have a hotline to an asteroid, no emergency meeting.. An asteroid has no remorse and it makes for decent disaster movies.. If it wasn't for the possibility of our obliteration why would we ever go to the movies.. and once the movie industry fails...we as a culture are doomed..
ohh..I like that.. I think that should be the next big scare..
Maybe it was the lack of bandwidth and everyone just sitting there waiting for a page to load or a download to finish that was causing depression. Today bandwidth levels are rising and everything is much more zippidiedodah..oh there I go with my happy bandwidth song again...
Personally I get really excited watching paint dry and grass grow. --
Since everything on the battlefield will most likely be run via remote anyway... Games are basic training for skills they'll eventually need to serve in the remote controlled army of whichever dark overlord has the biggest market cap at the time...
We have administration games for tomorrows administrators.
Field games or FPS for tomorrows field soldiers.
Tactical games for tomorrows officers...
It's a "brave" new world! --

Seems to me in this day and age when commericial entities can be held responsible at least in part for criminal acts based on their content, that this article even made it past the editor. --
just because life was found around volcanic vents doesn't necessarily mean that it originated there. we live on a planet thriving with life (especially the oceans) , and as we all know life tends to find its way into every conceivable nook and cranny that exists on this planet... So while I find life around thermal vents intriguing, I'm skeptical about it originating there... --

It's disgust, but not in the fact that they are acting in their own self interest, but that they do everything in their power to wriggle out of any sort of stipulation to make things.. here's the catchword... FAIR! --
Yeah...looks should never be considered when buying a product... Pretty soon they might actually sell cars based on looks..or clothing...or movies...or...hey wait a minute...
Good design is something that works well AND looks good... At least Apple didn't forget that.. They may be a little lean on the function side at times...but you can't just take one and ignore the other...
Gotta give them credit for being able to take the punches for bad designs... at least they're out there trying different (pardon the cliche) things.

It must have been nice to run down to your local computer smithe and have him hammer one out on his anvil in only a matter of a few months.... Gimme good ol' computer iron any day..

Isn't it obvious... The universe is flat, and these probes are just heading over the giant matterfalls at the edge of our solar system. I've heard stories of creatures from "out there" as well...
Schools are run by the state.
Do you really want the state to teach ethics?

"In what kind of world are we living where the only choice for Joe Sixpack is between AOL and Micro$oft ?"
The world is this way because Joe always has a sixpack and would rather take the easy choice.
