    "Vox populi vox dei" is the servant of corruption, yet as a meme it turns said masses into useful idiots. Politicians seek power for the purpose of getting in the way of things, for the purpose of getting paid to get back out of the way. This is endemic and obvious in most countries. It is just hidden a little better in some.

    You are confused, young man.

    All they do is, when someone makes a claim, say, "Let's prove it."

    They create tests that merely rule out known forms of trickery (this is why you need skilled magicians like Randi) and, Lo! The phenomenon suddenly disappears.

    Repeat that to yourself: When known forms of trickery are watched for, the phenomenon never manifests.

    Make of that what you will...if you are intellectually honest.

  22. This is interesting because there's a security company with a standing prize offer to anyone who can recover data from a simple wipe, no fucking patterns or multiple passes needed.

    It's one of those proverbial things that seems to have no basis even in the deepest labs of NASA or the CIA.
