so how does a new site that has in depth detail on your required subject ever get seen. when this site is launched it has zero references to it - so in your terms it has no value, will not get indexed, leading to it not getting seen, leading to no new references to it...
alternatively - for example if you want to know about biker groups in your area, so you do a search on biker - the results are predominantly porn sites, since these sites sometimes have a tangential reference to bikes, but reference each other a huge amount, giving them 'quality', in your terms, relative to bikes.
I don't think that quality can be measured using number of references as the primary criterion.
I pronounce it susie, but from the SuSE FAQ - How do you pronounce SuSE?
It should be pronounced like "Soose". The "U" sounds like the "oo" in "moose", the last "e" is spoken like the "a" in "at". But in general it is not very important to pronounce it correctly, as long as it is clear what you are talking about.
everyone on slashdot concentrated on the obvious blunders. I saw references elsewhere that fixing those blunders, and using correct tuning did improve performance by a few percentage points - changing the 2.5:1 performance ratio to something like 2:1
the test was incredibly useful in demonstrating some of the linux and apache weaknesses, especially around threads and page/memory locking in the linux smp code.
workarounds have been made in some areas, but i don't know anything about their stability.
if you looked at the change logs for the linix kernel from 2.2.6 thru 2.2.10 you will see many adjustments inolving kernel locking, smp code and tcp stacks.
i expect these fixes would have arrived anyway in due course; but having faults in these areas shown up in a public contest sure does focus the mind.
looks like he runs on BSD. looking from WTF gives : Checking host: www.georgewbush.com port 80 Operating system: 207.200.30.120:80 * BSDi or IRIX Web server software: Apache/1.2.3
The distribution is that available from redhat on April 20th 1999 plus ANY tuning, patches and bugfixes available from the redhat.com or kernel.org websites upto and including the 20th of April..

this is a worm, not a virus, and nearly all the early worms were on vms.
