We would not so glorify those who would publish plans for robbing bank vaults
And yet it is legal, just as publishing books on how to commit murder are legal
? When was the last time someone actually practiced what they preached and downloaded some songs by the independent artists on MP3.com
Well, I did. The bulk of my music purchases in the last year come from hearing a shoutcast song
Those few who have actually done it know that independent artists generally produce crap, and go back to trying to find their Eminem and Metallica mp3s.
Speaking of crap... I bet they also download NSync too/
You clearly have a lot to learn. World leaders (and the shadow players you never hear about) don't last very long without knowing a whole lot about manipulation and consequences. It's intelligence, just not math.
internal cache stores the undecoded instructions, so you still have to decode them each time. This only matters if your decoder can't fill the pipelines on the chip.
Incidentally, the P4 stores decoded instructions in a cache, but it can only issue 3 of those instructions each cycle, so you're guaranteed to have an underutilized chip
The BSA guys were searching the computers; since they knew nothing of Unix, they totally botched the search on those machines. Apparently the owner of the business is currently suing the BSA for damages.
On a lighter note, one of the BSA reps threatened the owner's kid - the BSA said they'd defend their rep, so he waived coucil. The BSA then cut him loose, so he gets to defend himself without a lawyer
According to a poster from one of the recent BSA stories, the BSA has no clue how to deal with anything that isn't wintel. He related that they would power down servers and attempt to run their software sniffers (even on sparcs), thereby ruining pretty much all of their Unix boxes. The admins were powerless to do anything, seeing as the BSA was backed up by armed cops.
If you are compliant and you get threatened and audited anyway, that sends a strong message. If, through their bungling, the BSA agents damage and destroy your existing unix boxes, that sends an even stronger message.
Most programmers do use Calculus. They don't integrate series or use those weird trig functions (trig integration freaks me out), but they do use the most important thing that Calculus can teach, and that is disciplined thought.
that still won't help; if you're on a large mail domain like earthlink or att, spammers will do a blind shotgun at your server. They basically send spam to every plausible mail address they can think of.
Even worse: Ballerinas selling Amway
since when did brains enter into this?

I currently use Speakeasy for DSL and they offer static IPs.
You don't model those things mathematically, you estimate and correct. Guessing and trying again is distinct from modeling a basketball.

I find the idea of a thinking machine that can't be bothered to do anything hilarious.
And illegal to tell someone how.
Any halfway competent sysadmin would examine the disk before using it.
Or did it blossom into True Love, thereby ensuring that you'll use the story to embarass your kids?
Funny, my first thought was "Where can i get a copy"

ACtually, in a lot of places, telemarketers are forbidden from cold calling cellphones, as the recipient pays for the call.

more likely, it'd cost five bucks and be totally unnoticed.

I got support for my BillWare. Incidentally, I got it from a windows developer because I worked for MS at the time.
Since when does an A10 tank killer counts as small arms?!
AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!
DieDieDie!! Jar-Jar no BAKA!

It's nice to know some corps still know how to treat their employees like human beings.
That makes me feel better - I work in the vicinity and I'm always hearing about how hard it is to get a decent job.

I agree. We need a study to show some of these things. I don't know what this is, but it's not a study.
