The Register is overloaded so here are some highlights:
Linux is the long-term threat against our core business. Never forget that!
I need you to make sure that as many of these customers as possible continue to migrate off of UNIX, but on to Windows 2000 on Intel
You should be smothering your accounts from very angle, and if you see Linux and/or IBM in there with it, then get all over it. Don't lose a single win to Linux. Learn about what they do with those systems, keep that inventory in your back pocket -- hell -- tattoo it on your butt if you have to -- and go after them. Knock them out one machine, one application, one department at a time
The Israeli Trivnet with their WiSP was somewhat more appealing since it was designed to authorize users and bill them through their ISPs, but, unfortunately they failed to break the critical mass problem and sign contracts with enough ISPs and now they close it down.
...what is that I really want. A PDA with a relatively large screen that is capable to show movies or, perhaps, something smaller, wrist wearable? On the other hand I would expect my cell phone to be like a light pen stuck in my shirt's pocket. The tradeoff between large screen and small device makes my decision so har. Perhaps an ultra thin / flexible / durable screen that I just can roll like a piece of paper and stick somewhere could solve the problem.
Why don't you post it on the MOSIX mailing list? Beside I think that, for the same audience, there is more interesting project MOSIX Virtual Server. There are not much details online and I'm not authorized to publish any inside info, but you can ask the one who does the research.
Unfortunately your comment about Mosix is not correct. Mosix attempts to solve problems of distributed environment assuming LAN not WAN. The former is much relaxed model for distributed algorithms. As the article says projects like Globe are truly distributed.
It's amazing that nobody even tries to make something a little different than the well known MS Office. Even that name Office appears almost everywhere. What office? A law office, a construction company office or a municipality office? I bet all of them have different needs. Why MS put all that programs in a single package? Perhaps because, as usual, they earn more money due to this model? Then why everybody needs to clone it?
I wonder if there is any guessing algorithm that works on a reasonable hardware in a reasonable time and still has more chances than any regular lottery with similar prizes... Yes, I know that lotteries is a tax for those who don't know math, I just don't think that far.
It doesn't look like a terror act. If it would they've could simply choose another place to maximize the damage.
4th Reich, that what is it.

Internet2, c'mon can't them push it a little further and come up with a little bit more creative name?
Have anybody see that web site he's linked to? He's a realy sick person. Do you really have to post such a crap?

I wonder whether /. uses any existing cluster like Beowulf or Mosix?

Nevertheless, once again, Russians got the title of first ... in space. Whatever NASA will do about space tourism, they'll be always the second.
