    From the article:

Calling the new machines Linux-only is a bit of a stretch, of course, since the zSeries "Raptor" mainframes and the iSeries Model 820 servers will have z/VM and OS/400 installed on them (respectively) to act as partition managers.
  2. Re:Protein Applications? on Nanopore DNA Sequencing · · Score: 1

I don't think that this is possible because of the structures involved. DNA is a long double-helix (ignoring any integral structutal proteins,so pulling it through a hole is possible. However, most proteins fold and form large structures, and unfolding these would probably be extremely difficult, never mind examining the many component amino acids. AFAIK, this is the reason the way protein folds is so important, as well as x-ray crystallography determining the structure of known proteins.

Only one thing: it uses the unreal engine, not the theif one. And if the mobs were always looking for you after they found you once, you wonuld only have two options. One is to restart the game from your last save. The other is to just kill everything in sight, which you wanted to avoid in the first place if you were sneaking around.

I probably shouldn't be responding to this flamebait, but people with high karma automattically post at two, not one. If you don't see a word next to the score, a moderater hasn't touched it yet.

Quantum3D made the Obsidian II, that had 2 voodoo2's and something they called "the brick" which contained 4 Obsidian II's, for a total of 8 (!) voodoo2's. I think 3Dfx used this to demonstrate the t-buffer.

3Dfx SLI has every other line rendered by a different card, hence the term "Scan Line Interleave". ATI's MAXX renderes every other frame using a different chip.

  9. Re:Okay, moderator. Explain yourself. on Building an 1100Mhz "SuperStation" · · Score: 2

Ok, just to explain myself, L1 cache is on the core, and is 32k on Celerons, and p2's and p3's. On celerons L2 cache is 128k on the same wafer as the rest of the processor, so it runs at full speed. On Pentium II and Pentium III processors, it is external SRAM chips, which is why Intel went to Slot1 (among other reasons). The reason Celerons overclock so well is the integrated L2 cache, because it is the same quality as the wafer. Pentium II and Pentium III's external L2 makes overclocking difficult, which is why celerons are clocked far past their intended speeds, and other's can't.

Reread the comment, then realize that the poster should at least attempt to understand what the hell he is talking about, like the difference between L1 and L2 cache.
