that means that the data is stored in a less accessible format for long life. That does not mean that you cannot keep the data in a "liquid" state as well for easy consumption, but in case of a catastrophic data loss, the archive could be used to rebuild the database.
umm.. if you can find a larger flash based mp3 player that has a color screen and can show pictures, plus gets 15 hours of battery life and is less than 250 dollars, then I would like to know.
they have 60 credits to teach you theory. that is what CS is. they do that by exposing you to lots of different languages.
you want a vocational system. CS is NOT like that, nor should it.
a CS student learns how to learn new languages by way of understanding the unifying ideas behind all programming languages.
I guarantee you that a CS grad will be productive in a totally alien language faster than some one who has exceptional training in one or two languages.
good thing I have never had a class on any of those and the only program I have ever done in Java was one for modern algebra. I learned to do a web applet in 2 days, and it works great...never had any experience with Java before then.... Oh, and I hate MS programing tools.
you had me until it came to the part about learning a new language. I am sorry, but once you know how to program, learning a new syntax, especially one that is so close to one that most CS students have had experience with, is easy to do.
yes, you still need to learn the library but the language is trivial.
it is oriented at getting the student to learn how to use computer systems found in business, how to create tools for those systems and how to manage and build on those systems.
if it was done right, those should not be in the html, it should be in the css.
so buy a cheap radio at he corner drug store!!!! cripes, I have like 15 radios in my house that I have collected over the years.
I can buy a 7 dollar radio at the drug store that has better reception than this POS.
because. ABC is a 3 legged stool. condoms alone will not stop AIDS, and Abstinence / being faithful will not stop AIDS.
All 3 need to be there.
umm.. actually, Uganda's president says that the lack of dollars from the US because of the abstinence only policy for aid has caused the increase.
you listen to the liar rush to much.
considering most people like certain kinds of music and will stick with that, you will soon cap out and be paying for old stuff more and more.
get the real fact out there. Dell is taking a loss on this to start with.
please slashdot was a slow cludge.
umm.. you need a light version? make a stylesheet for it.
besides that, now that it is html/css, this site probably weighs in at near the size of the light version now.
Slashdot loads fast now!!!!!!
:-D
I love it... thought I wish you had used XHTML strict.
lazy punks.
hmm.. so, 400 years left for the human race? great. lets just not care about our species. I hope your Hindu.
well, they need something that they control that will keep people using IE 7.
they tried to control HTML to the point that when all was said and done, and the standards won, IE blew at supporting them.
With this, they can keep firefox out of the market if more people use sparkle. we will be back to IE only websites that validate to the w3c.
Duh, I have known about this.
Duh... look at the government. How could critical thinkers vote those idiots into office?
I would except that I live in a city area and all teh damn light pollution makes the night sky look like an all night sunset.
umm.. it is larger than that. about the size of a nice Digital camera display. that is plenty for showing off pictures of the kids.
check out the systm show on it at revision3.
we are talking about ARCHIVING.
that means that the data is stored in a less accessible format for long life. That does not mean that you cannot keep the data in a "liquid" state as well for easy consumption, but in case of a catastrophic data loss, the archive could be used to rebuild the database.

of course they cannot teach a language like that.

thanks for being an idiot though.
Actually, I was not intending to say that. But I guess I sort of did.
I was meaning to say that learning the theory of languages makes picking up a language very easy.
hmm, yes that definitely sounds better than what I said at first.
I wrote a Go Fish program in LISP. I actually love LISP. I am a double major, CSC and MTH and LISP fits right in who how I think mathematically.
I picked up LISP quite easily.
and as a new developer on a team, the experienced guys can clue him/her in on the stuff he does not know.
to say that a person should be able to know the finer points of a language before he tried to get a job for that language is ridiculous.
you had me until it came to the part about learning a new language. I am sorry, but once you know how to program, learning a new syntax, especially one that is so close to one that most CS students have had experience with, is easy to do.

for a job, then go into CIS.
