    why? are you running a continuous calculation application that reads and writes data to a file in memory?

    if you are, why the hell are you not running that on a server like the Xserve which has ECC now?

    otherwise, you are working interactively with the machine and at such a low data rate that interactive work produces, the chances that there will be a transmission error are crazy low, and the chances that you would not notice it are even smaller (well unless your stupid... then they are probably larger)

    well, cable companies are evil bustards... I trust my Phone Monopoly (in Michigan) over my Cable monopoly.

    SBC is regulated up the ass and the Legislature loves kicking it around at the slightest hint of malfeasance.

    cable companies however are numerous and hard to get at because they make a contract with the local towns and cities.

    a 6 month sentence will likely be done in a minimum security prison since it is less than 3 years.

    also, how is the US an empire? it has the same borders it has had since WW II and has not gone on any wars of expansion.
