  1. Ooo ooh idea on A Glimpse Into 3D future: DirectX Next Preview · · Score: 1

Instead of say "ultra shade 2000 (tm)" how about "more polys render (tm)". Cuz really well drawn 2d trees/grass/foilage is getting kinda lame [no matter how high the bpp is!]

Really it gets to the point where people are like I want 300fps *and* I want every pixel to be drawn perfectly.

I'd just go for decent poly/s and a card that doesn't catch on fire! Heck I play most games in 16bpp [yuck! ... though I recall when 15/16 bpp was dreamy] cuz I concentrate on the game, not how nicely phong shaded some poorly tesselated object looks.

That and as many others said... why not use OpenGL? Or better yet. Why doesn't DirectX just act like a wrapper around OpenGL [or merge OpenGL into DX?] DX does provide input/sound support which nobody bitches about. The 3D support leaves a lot to be desired [and undesired]

What "store"? I just made an off remark to Apu-Meatmart. What I actually meant is ANY low-budget occasionally questionable but often decent restaurant run by non-franchised market droid americans.

It wasn't meant to be a racist remark of any sort. It's the truth that low-budget restaurants often have whitelabels [though I should eat my feet as McD's as whitelabels too occasionally].

Besides I'm no xenophobic. I often spend a shitload more time than I have to in public places. It doesn't mean I like what people do, just that I don't hide from it [nor do I actively go out and try to stop them...]

I'm all for diversity but I'm so utterly pissed off with the troubles most "ethnics" cause. You get the "I don't speak English so I'll cause problems at the stamp counter" people [I work at a pharmacy postal outlet] to the "oh repeat the lesson, I no speaky much English" asswipes in Class [I attend a local community college] to the "we'll drive like a maniac while playing really shitty music" gang-banging darky [and white darky immitators] with stupid go-mufflers.

You want to be "diverse". Great. Just don't do it at the cost of everyone around you. Learn some english, pay attention in class, turn your mo-fo hat around and for jebuz sake learn to drive. /rant

Use banks you trust and use ATMs [or ABMs as they are called in Canada] at banks you know and trust . I'd never use a whitelabel ABM since not only do you get a surcharge but it's very easy for it to be a fake.

This isn't foolproof but much safer than using random whitelabels you find in Apu's Mealbar.
