You may not be a bigot but the religion your claim as your own is full of bigotry. Here's a sample.
This is a quote from Brigham Young.
"You see some classes of the human family that are black, uncouth, uncomely, disagreeable, sad, low in their habits, wild, and seemingly without the blessings of the intelligence that is generally bestowed upon mankind.
"Shall I tell you the law of God in regard to the African race? If the white man who belongs to the chosen seed mixes his blood with the seed of Cain, the penalty, under the law of God, is death on the spot. This will always be so."
The man was a prophet or so you claim. He spoke for god at the time. Was he correct?
Do you agree with Brigham on this statement?
If so you are a bigot and a racist.
The Old Testament had similar "prophets" with similar racist views. Just because it was printed back then it doesn't make it right.
I, for one, am awaiting a forthcoming book from BYU Studies about Spencer W. Kimball that an inside source promises will shed some light on the matter.
"I'm waiting for the religion to tell me what to think. "
That's what you're saying. It's like saying,"I don't know that the holocaust was wrong. I'm waiting on a book from Hitler's grandson before I make my decision." (maybe a little extreme)
Take an objective view for once in your life. Of course BYU is going to print something that justifies the bigoted attitudes of the past. They're owned and funded by the Mormon Church. Try a little independent thought for once.
The biggest problem with the Mormon church is that they can't admit fault. There has never been an apology for the bigotry that was preached to its members. There are no apologies for Brigham Young's statements regarding the intelligence of the Negro race. No retraction of McConkie's bigoted statements in Mormon Doctrine.
Blacks could not take part in Temple ordinances. This meant that they could never attain the highest degree of glory (Celestial Kingdom). You're theology teaches that a person must receive his/her endowments before he/she can enter the highest degree of glory. No blacks were allowed to participate in temple ordinance until 1978. This is fact not opinion. Show me where a black man had temple work done before 1978.
Black people were also prohibitted from any leadership in the LDS church due to the fact that leadership requires the priesthood.
As a former missionary and a person that has studied a great deal of histroy on the subject I understand the angles.
When are you going to realize that the Old Testament is nothing more than a collection of tales passed down through the times. It's not literal.
Just because ancient jewish cultures practiced bigotry doesn't mean that God is a bigot.
The Bible is a good representation of how ancient people attempted to justify things that were impossible for them to explain. Your own doctrine states that you believe in the Bible as far as it is translated correctly.
It's amazing that you'd justify your own bigotry by using the myths and legends from thousands of years ago. Think for yourself. We've all heard the canned answer you've spewed here on this page that has been force fed to you in your brain washing. Try coming up with your own explaination for Mormon Bigotry.
It's always funny to see a person that belongs to the LDS church accusing other of being narrow minded. The Mormon Faith is the very definition of narrow mindedness.
What other major religion taught that blacks where cursed and not allowed to hold the priesthood until 1978: Official Declaration #2
This is the religion that preaches that American Indians have dark skin because they were wicked and disobedient to gods commands. Verse 21-23
I'm pointing to what your religion publishes on the net. These links are your scriptures. Bigotry is still part of your beliefs.
I'm sorry but Utah will always garner negative opinions due to the narrow mindedness of the faith that controls the majority of the population of that state.
Why does Slashdot always pat Apple on the back for everything? They appear to take the best of the Open Source world and give nothing in return. To this day I can't run their quicktime movies on Linux: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/ I don't see a Linux option here. Also missing is a BSD download.
You see countless posters protesting SCO's use of Apache and Samba yet very little is said of Apple charging 500 bucks for a server OS that is almost 100% open source with their fancy gui on top. Have they donated any of those management tools? No. What has been their contribution? Hardly anything...
In a way they are worse that Billy Gates and his crew. They turn their company around by taking advantage of the blood sweat and tears of the Open Source programmers and don't give anything back.
I know I'll get flamed for this but I need to vent my frustrations. Don't try and tell me that Darwin is their contribution because we all know it's crippleware.
This is perfect for all those surly Sys Admins

http://www.converge.com/eWebApp/jsp/pricetrends/Ca tegoryDescDetail.jsp Take a look at the graphs on this page. The only segment of the market that appears to be climbing is the PC100 and PC133 products. This is common for products as they are phased out of production. I'd say the author picked a poor time to post this article. DRAM makers like Micron won't be able to survive if the current pricing continues.
It might be a little more fun to vilify a company like Rambus which is suing it's way to profitability, bending all consumers over with it's illegal obtained patent portfolio. (allegedly)
I'm one of the losers that has payed for a rhn subscription. I say I'm a looser because I've payed for a subscription just for the "special" ISO access and now I'm watching my high speed connection download the first ISO at 4.7 Kps. At this rate I should have the ISOs downloaded by the end of week when they distribute to the rest of the mirrors.
For only $60 per year you can download have the nostalgia of using a modem again. What a deal!
You be the judge for your application. If you haven't seen this report you should take a look at it:

This site compares many of the modern languages. PHP really doesn't fare well in this test. Of course, PERL doesn't prove to be the top of the heap either.
Ultimately, I think the most important thing to look at here is lines of code required to do the job. Execution time continues to be less of a concern as processor speeds increase and hardware tends to be cheaper than man hours. (Unless you work in a sweat shop in a 3rd world country.)
There's no one language that adresses all problems.
Sounds like the value you place on source code is completely distorted. The real value exists in the relationship the company that hired you to build the software. I would bet that the code is nothing that several other competitors could produce.
Most software companies fail to see that their clients aren't interested in entering the software business. Over the past 5 years I've made it a point to ensure that my customers get every bit of code that was used to build their product. In doing so, I've strengthened the one thing that is important: the relationship. I've never had a customer try to sale the code that I provided for them.
Just consider this fact: There are several software development sweat shops in developing nations that are capable of producing high quality code at 1/10th the cost. The only reason your client works with you is the relationship you've developed with them. I'd do what ever it takes to make that relationship stronger.
This may be an new economical theorem you've come up with.... Let me see if I've got this straight: When the demand for products is high the price tends to go up.... When the demand for products is low the price tends to drop... Holy shit!! Do you realize how this can change the face of economics today? Someone get a hold of nobel... I think we got a winner.
We have to do something to make it (HTTP) less important," said Box. "If we rely on HTTP we will melt the Internet.
Almost seems like he feels that the HTTP protocol is overweight and that it's putting strain on the Internet. If you're comparing HTTP protocol to SOAP wouldn't that be like Ricki Lake calling Oprah Fat?
