  1. Umm.... on 13-Year-Old Suspended For Hacking Commits Suicide · · Score: 1
    Out of curiousity, WTF???

I question how someone so 'bright and gifted' could have foreseen going to jail. Either he did something really heavy, (though in my experience, schools aren't exactly hard to hack, or worth it) or he was mentally unstable. Even if committing suicide did make sense, (in a hypothetical sense) would'nt it have been better to wait until he was sure he was GOING to jail??

    Ahh... the impatience of youth....

    My condolences to the family.

At my last job, I ended up designing the server structure WHILE on the phone with customers who complained that they never got their e-mail because they could never remember the password.
It's so frustrating to have 'better things to do' and run into the common person who desires your utmost attention for BULL.
Many people share my pet peeve: I hate people who won't TRY to piece things out. Stupidity is one thing; these people don't even TRY.
I am jaded about Tech Support. I left the tech world partially because of it, and am going into another field entirely. I have another friend, working at Compaq, who would JUMP on an opportunity out of there, and out of tech. This is a problem.
On the other hand, they do treat tech support very well here. But maybe that's because we're supporting the US :op (I'm in Canada, where a few compaq call centres for the US are locatated) I don't think there is a way to stop recycling though; you can only take so much.

QWEST is just another little aquisition... soon, I will go to the MS-Grocery Store, buying freshly squeezed Gates Juice. After that, I'll pick up some fast food (I'm lazy) at Mc-Micro's. There will be a Microburger with a side order of fries.NET.
Or, perhaps they will fall to a lower state... like IBM. One can only cross one's fingers.

  7. True, however... on MSN Buys 500,000 Qwest.Net Customers · · Score: 1

AOL is of the same necessary 'aquiring' evil as Microsoft. the only reason we somewhat root for AOL is because they are the ONLY competition on the MAP!
IE vs Netscape... Netscape's inferior, (these days, tho I like and use mozilla) but IE is bloatware MS crap with no competition.
With Microsoft buying out Qwest, etc, we have no chance of having decent service, because innovation is stifled in mergers.

Do you remember the original PIII? GOD DID IT SUCK! My friend had a p3 500, and it was nothing compared to the coppermine 667 I bought 4 months later. It wasn't the speed so much as the quality of the chip
Intel rushed P4. I will admit that. But think about it: The northwood chip, second generation P4, will probably be excellent. Besides, as was pointed out previously, it's new set of instructions will become implemented in new programs such as Win XP.

  11. Interesting... on Send out the Clones? · · Score: 1

Is it me, or is everyone screaming 'But someone would clone Hitler!' when human clones are mentioned?
We are the choir... yes I am preaching to you... but again, parental guidance, not genes, will dictate the majority of actions/ideas/ethics that an individual has. The only way we could TRUELY clone Hitler is by being able to clone his brain just before he died.
Same with Saddam, and everyone else.
Hence, is a ban on cloning really necessary? We would learn so much more about the human body, and be able to regrow parts so much faster. The 'slave clone' jibe from CmdrTaco aside, this would be really beneficial!
I think these stupid techno-phobes need to understand we'd just be making twins. After that, they're their own person.
    Cheers.
