    Well said.

As an IT manager, my time (in my current job, your mileage may vary) is best spent working to allow my employees to be as efficient as possible. Employees that don't have to jump through tons of hoops or red to get their stuff done will be happier as a result.

So let me do that mundane stuff, and you can go be effective at what your role in the organization is.

As someone in another thread mentioned, I'm a proponant of the thinking that *I* work for the employee. Whatever I can do to make them more effective, efficient, etc. is a plus to the company.

I keep a text-based list of all my logon IDs, with a very vague reference to the password.

So here's what I go through. (names of been changed to protect the innocent) All my passwords are generally the same, with slightly different numbers. So let's say my MSN password is based on an obscure auto part called a hog ring. Here's what my list would look like:

    MSN
    auto12123

    Yahoo
    auto5

And so on... So *I* know what 'auto' really means (for this example 'hogring), but no-one else ever will. If I change my password, I can easily recover.

I recently bought the game, and wasn't woried about the copy protection. Long story short, the Starforce software broke my box.

Long story: I installed the game, but for some reason the game prompted me to reboot after the install. I have a lot of games and, in my experience, for that to happen is rare. So I reboot, and get a blue-screen. Reboot again. Another blue-screen. Finally located the cause, through safe mode, found the registry entry, and nuked it. Now my box is fine, but even after a re-install of the game I get a blue-screen.

    Damn.
