Funny. I run Win2k on 6 machines at home, Professional as well as Server, and have never had any issues. I've never been hacked, cracked, trojaned or infected. I've never had compatability or stability issues.
I think 9/10ths of the issues with Windows are moronic configuration issues.
To exagerate my point: I would challenge, and likely beat, anyone who still used a 486 to play a graphically intensive online game, even though I would most likely lose to someone who played on my same hardware.
I would agree, however, that people spend good money to change from 75fps to 120fps, when the human eye is unable to distinguish between the two. That said (to ramble on) if I am the only one in the game and get 120fps, how many fps would I get when there are 40 other players in my same area? I think that's where the extra horsepower, graphical or elsewhere in your box or connection speed, comes in. That's certainly why *I* would spend the extra money...just to compete. People just need to understand when they *should* make that purchase.
While that is certainly true it doesn't bring the other, more powerful advocate into the fight...the businesses. So far, I don't believe I've heard of any case where they based their stock on what copy protection scheme the CDs had.
To go to an extreme: if EVERYone did this, they'd (music store) likely not carry the Phill Collins CD in question, causing the label to rethink it's policy.
was built from a hospital gurney. There was a cutout for your head, much like a massage table, and the monitor screen waas facing up. The keyboard was a split-design, which was the one difficult part to get used to, and your arms would just hang straight down. The mouse was a trackball mounted horizontally.
Funny. I first heard of the Dr. Germ thing on a non-US news station.
And more than half of the reporters in Iraq were what they call 'unattached' members of the media. That means that they were not loyal to either the US or Iraq. Did anyone see news coverage different than that shown on US stations?
I think that was his point. Penn State gets taken to court and THEN the lawyers find out that the stolen music, um, isn't really stolen. Supposed to be funny, I think.
If you live in such a backwoods country that you can't get (or aren't allowed) to use a Tivo, the either shut up or move!
There are quite a few people that can't get broadband at their homes, but yet I hear so few complaints like "Make your web pages smaller, don't you know there are people still on dialup?"
So what makes your story different enough to warrant burdening all of us with it?
Yep, the good old days. Top Ramen and boiled potatoes kept me alive for many a month in college. I'll teach my kids to do better in high-school, that's for sure.
"Your quick-connect would burst into flames, sending a spark back up into your tank, which would then explode, soaking you in burning gasoline and making your run around screaming 'why god why, why am I such a moron?'."
I'm not sure I understand... Why do they make you call in order to get the fix? Why not just have it downloadable?

So why do you not replace the ATI cards with nVidia cards?
Are you like me, and comsistently wait for the next driver release, hoping that it'll fix your issues?
Hope you fare better than I have.
I would agree, but only to a certain point.

"the rest of us are free to use all that 56k goodness."
Goodness? Hardly. Gotta jump on the broadband wagon.
Point taken, though, on the FCC comment.
"We pointed out that someone had poured White-Out over the crystal can..."
What is a crystal can?
Funny. In my area, that's the name of a local bar.
With a car seat, I'd expect they'd use an airbag...
Main problem I've experienced first hand: Even VPs can't bury farts in the mesh.
Made for quite an embarassing moment in the meeting, that's for sure.

Unlike the host of other linux apps that are on release .10 at best, right?

Drool gutter optional.

I thought not.

Hey, if that's all it takes to keep her looking like the easy white trash that she is, so be it.
Bah. I've heard no appologies so far. And the US now has Dr. Germ. So...
Oh, so THAT's why the drag racers use automatic transmissions, right?
My car has an auto-stick (Tiptronic) and works flawlessly. It's also faster than shifting manually.
Perhaps the people in the UK just have a lack of taste? Or is it a lack of money to buy a decent car?
Is that on a box that has never called out?
"The average /. reader is an idiot. Half of /. readers are below average. Are you scared yet?"
What makes you think that the average reader is an idiot?
If all readers are above average, there is obviously nothing to be scared of.
The more I read it, the less your sig rings true.
I'm soooo tired of whiners.

At the very least, they'll have VCR functionality.
Nope. Not true. I bought a DirecTivo, and found out the hard way.
The only thing it does do for you is buffer up to 30 minutes of the channel you're currently watching. Change the channel, and even that's gone.
Have another Scooby snack, Scoob!

F-ing hilarious!
