I saw this on a DirecTv box. I was at a friend's house on christmas and on the DirecTv info bar it listed the date as 1/08/70. Dunno if it was due to a lazy operater, or this bug. For further info this is a DirecTv receiver built into an HDTV receiver, unsure of the brand, but it is a widescreen. It is about 4 years old, tops.
On that note, neither would I. Here is a better solution. I know several people who swear by that switchbox. It is a 50$, driver-independent magic bullet for this guy's problem.
Hate to state the obvious answer, but did you try both companies' websites? The answer is maybe, Sourceforge would probably be your best bet to find crossplatform drivers.
Commodore 64 with two 5 1/4 inch floppy drives, and , wait for it, the Commodore 128 cartridge. Man, I thought I was the coolest kid on the block. Blue screen, green screen. Took me an hour to program games in basic that I never got sick of. I still have a book on basic game programming, now I am going to go home and do it. I also remember, and feel free to correct me if I am wrong, a children's science magazine that used to feature a basic game for kids to program in the back. I can not for the life of me recall the title. It may be 3-2-1 Contact but that doesn't sound right, same vein though.
First of all, what kind of idiot steals a laptop? Those things are usually laden with security software and things. Second of all, this guy is a idiot for dialing up HIS AOL account on a STOLEN computer. That is just retarded. I mean, it is tied to your credit-card number/other personally identifiable information, IIRC. Third, it is most likely an ANONYMOUS hardware identification system, like the VIN for cars, only anonymous. This does not bother me one bit, no one knows about the number until your stuff gets stolen. Good idea, that would probably cut down on insurance fraud of people claiming to have their laptops "stolen", when in reality they just kind of hide it for a while.
True that artists make most of their money from touring and merchandising, most of us know that. But why further put them in the hole and having to work their way out to provide a living for them and theirs? I agree that being illegal and being wrong or immoral are two totally different beasts, but how can some forms of copyright infringement be "OK", and others not. Even most two or three year olds know that if you take something for nothing then it is stealing. So I am damned if I do damned if I don't? If she knew it was illegal then "Who cares , it isn't wrong." If she did not then "Who cares, she didn't know it was illegal, lay off." There has to be some sort of happy middle ground here, some sort of culpability.
No, modern day public school systems drill copyright law into you in just about all grade levels. Plus I read a whole hell of a lot when I was younger (and I still do, mind you), and actually paid attention to the world around me. I wish we could shake the notion that our children are stupid, blithering idiots who are to be feared because they might murder us because of "violent movies and video games", and that they don't know their right from their left, much less their right from their wrong.
Your analogy makes sense, in a sense (so to speak). But if you robbed a bank then started giving away the money to your friends, they don't charge you with receiving copyright infringed property, they could charge them with receiving stolen property, if they in fact knew it was proceeds from a theft, IIRC they do not even have to know it was stolen.
Okay, it is way different to "share" music with one person than to "share" it with millions worldwide. The RIAA sucks, the recording industry sucks, artists end up owing the record companies money, even if they are a hit and do well. That does not make sense, but I do not see how contributing to that by not buying music is a good thing, maybe to cheapskates who want everything for free, but not to me. Is it a means to an end? Or just a free ride while it lasts? I hope I have enough faith in my fellow man to assume that the former is true. Lastly, I set my own moral compass, I believe in personal responsibility, that only I am responsible for my actions, not my parents, not society, not television, not movies, not video games, and certainly not the RIAA.
Okay, so this girl had no idea it was wrong to get things for free and give them away? You have no faith in your fellow man my friend. Just because someone is under the age of 18, does not mean they are a drooling idiot. When I was 15, I damn sure knew my right from my wrong, anyone who does not is just completely ignorant, or has absentee parents.
Why the heck did Sun's offering get thrown in there? For variety? The Efficeons look awful nice to people who want less power-hunger from their computing devices. If all you do is word processing and such, why the heck even use an Intel/AMD chip? Less heat, less power, what is not to love? Now the IBM chips have really piqued my interest, I am a huge fan of IBM's chips, especially in Apple computers (I am a proud owner of a 12" Powerbook).
Today I claim the word "The" to be my idea. Anyone who even thinks about making something called "The", or who even uses that word, will be sued by me and my lawyers for one-hundred trillion dollars. Wait a minute, looking at my post, I may need to sue myself, Fox style.
This would just never work. I do not think people would be overjoyed at the prospect of needing "yet more security" to be purchased on top of their hardware and software. Why would running AV software be necessary if it gets stopped at the GW/ISP? Make it transparent to the user, in the end that is your customer, it should not be your job to make your customer jump through hoops in order to get the most out of their computer/internet connection, regardless of OS. Where would this leave the specialty operating systems? Screwed? Having to wait for Cisco to make AV software for their platform? There would be hell to pay from Universities/Businesses/Etc. The Internet is not something that one company should be able to control, it is not a quantifiable object like say, a diamond, a car, or a house. It is more of an abstract idea for how things interconnect. That would be like making a device for the brain, and if you didn't run the correct software, your feet would stop working correctly.
I am qualified to log in, though. To be fair, I did preface my statement with "I am by no means a medical doctor". I did not claim to be qualified, just to possess common sense.
Dude, I did not imply that it does not happen. We do not know how the brain completely works, nor will we ever. What I am saying is that we don't really know what kind of medical/psychological history these people have. If you forget how you normally talk, how would you remember how other people talk? This is the brain we are speaking of, so I do not know the answer to that question. I know you can very easily bump your head and wake up not knowing you are married, how to ride a bike, what have you, but if you forgot how you talk like you, shouldn't that mean that you most likely will not be able to communicate at all? This just seems really bizarre to me.

Hauppauge PVR/250/350 for Windows/Linux.
Elgato's EyeTv for Mac OS X.
Yeah, thats the one. I can't remember the title either. Dead on.
Specs=1 mhz proc and 8k of RAM.
Oops.

Are you sure there are 192 nations participating, and not 192.168 nations? What about the 10.x or the 169.254 nations you insensitive clods?

How about balance your fucking budget, THEN worry about stupid shit like this.

How is theft copyright infringment? If I go out and rob a bank, and then "share" the money with my friends, is that theft or copyright infringment?
I feel zero pity. Theivery is theivery, be you 15 or 115.
I have a Sun box. IMHO they are overpriced, underperforming dinosaurs. It is a pretty damn good firewall though.
I know. I should have clarified, I was just saying that I am an Apple mark, I know that my PB has a Motorola chip.

A 1,000+ page book entitled The definitive guide to the Compact Framework? Sounds pretty ironic to me.
