I can without equivocation tell you that simply stating your name is NOT enough if I am in the middle of a 'Terry Stop' (see Terry vs Ohio - US Spreme Court [RTFM]). Stoping someone and frisking them doesn't terminate the investigation or absolve you of guilt. Handing the receipt back to Mr. Righi doesn't end the officers investigation either. Undoubtedly, the officer will testify his investigation was still underway when Mr Righi refused to identify himself. At the end of the day here..a little common sense would work wonders to the self-righteous 4th amendment defenders out there. As you can read from the details of this story, behaving like an ass gets you arrested and ruins your day in this country...I can assure you it gets you dead elsewhere in the world.
I don't see the difference. The man arrested was behaving irrationally in the presence of a law enforcement officer trying to determine if a crime was comitted. He could have simply said "I don't have ID on me, just my credit card"..instead he decided to make a civil rights 'stand'. By his own admission, he said he "knew why the store personel called after him"..but once again, he decided to make some sort of whacked civil rights stand. Having grown up on the wrong side of the tracks, I know well enough to behave respectfully and cooperatively in society. You do differently, and you get your butt handed to you. He shouldn't have been arrested in front of his family, that was wrong. Maybe raped..THEN arrested would have been more appropriate.
A man from AZ (I think) was having an argument with his daughter about somebody she was dating. An officer pulled up and demanded the man show him his drivers license. He refused citing his constitution rights. Yadda, yadda, yadda..the guy was roughed up, the daughter was pummeled and they all got arrested. All charges were dropped except for the ID 'thing'..and the gentleman arrested brought it to the Supreme Court..and lost. They actually cite the supreme court ruling on this website if you care to read the full text of it. Garbage if you ask me..but if a law enforcement officer demands you show positive ID and you refuse or even as "why"..it's an arrest-able offense now. Welcome to Germany circa 1932 folks. (Can't wait until I can throw my 'national ID' in the micorwave.)
I must be missing something here. If you compare two identical people, with the only difference being one makes more than the other. Why does the person with more income spend more than the person with a lower income? You used the example of food..why does person Y spend more on food? Is it because they make more..I don't follow this logic at all.
Why not buy one of the myriad of old sat. dishes on ebay? Someone else already spent the money on the parabolic mold and put a reflective coating on the surface.

Find a good University that has a large variety of CS classes for continuing education. Enroll each and EVERY semester. Stick to it. Make sure the programs you select are challenging, interesting and relevant. Don't stagnate in a job that is often a one-trick pony..You need to find knowledge outside the pigeon hole of work.
But my "old" (it's not THAT old) G4 dual 450Mhz machine can be pretty slow with both X and/or classic apps. I found using CodeWarrior to be slower in X as well.
