Yes, so used to gasoline that they feel perfectly comfortable walking across the gas station lot or sitting in their cars at the pump with lit cigarettes dangling out of there mouths.
I just about explode when I see that. Hehe pun intended.
True. But alas, sco has announced their intentions to go after the AT&T/Berkeley settelment as well. Probably not soon, and I guess it depends on how the whole Linux gambit plays out. That puts the *BSD's on that target map as well if things go their way.
I've been at a new job for 3 months now and we use a lot of IBM pc's of different varieties. I've replace the HDD's in about 7 of them in 3 months. All were Fujitsu's. It's not scientific but seemed strange that they were failing at such a high rate. IBM wouldn't even troubleshoot the problem anymore. Just ask the symtoms and ship a new one.
Geez, you have no right to live. Now do us a favor and get off your ass in kill yourself. Do your part to make the world a better place and go play in traffic.
My take on what the story was trying to convey was that/. doesn't have a staff on payroll that it has to pay, as well as operations cost, that is out there trying to dig up news stories. They have us doing for them.
I think that is what they were meaning by independent.
On a similar note, NPR just did a 2 day series on how major corporations are taking over the once indie Internet. Those sites that aren't being bought up are being sued off the Internet by the recording and movie industry scum, among others. Basically the gist was scum lawyers will control the Internet for corporations like they control the rest of America.
Our beloved/. was the highlight of the 2nd series as the one thriving independent media outlet.
Yep. It's not the only distro I use anymore but it's what I started with. Got a couple servers running it at work. Very nice distro. Very unfortunate about this new licensing structure though. I won't be purchasing the new one. Just have to go through all the extras of upgrading the ole eDesktop 2.4.

That and picture Darl, as Dr Evil of course, when they up the ante against IBM going, "3 BILLION Dollars. MmmHaahaha!"
Why not? They just got $521 million from Microsoft. They should be willing to settle for a nice fee.

Fly in the day if you want light. 'nuff said.
That is the dumbest thing I've heard in a long time. Sheesh. Yes Pat, I'd like to buy a clue.

What's a matter with socialism? RMS is all about socialism (in software anyway).
Meanwhile, it's high time for a Dr. Who revival...
Dr. Who?
Couldn't resist that one.
