Everyone needs to read this, most aren't old enough to remember it,but the man said alot of things that are now coming true,

I saw a bumper sticker recently,it said "Flip this house", it was a picture of the White House.
I think it is time to fire all our representitives and hire new ones, maybe then we will be able to see the "true puppeteers" that are running our country.
Guys,it's Windows, when in doubt,Reboot! If still in doubt,See rule #1,Reboot! Rule #2,"Let your fingers do the walking",Dial the number! Rule #3,If Rule #2 fails, get in the car,Start,Drive to the Bank!!!
Hopefully someone at Dell has enough of sense to read slashdot on a regular basis, if for no other reason than to search for bad press like this article and to fix silly/stupid mistakes made by Tier I or the USPS or whomever. Estimated UPS/Fedex to Afganistan is $300 to $400,and as tough as times are with Christmas around the corner, An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure? How do you buy any better PR? or not....... I guess this is test to see how "American" Dell really is.
Cheka,GPU,NKVD,MVD,KGB,Stasi,Mossad,PVDE,Gestapo, frumentarii, Pick a time, pick a country, they all have them, they all destroy. We now have the DHS. They will destroy just like all their predecessors.
the first article I read regarding this talked about a "new security officer" that was hired. Personally I don't think much of security officers, usually they A/R's without any real abilities, they know just enough to be dangerous, and usually arrogant POS's. I think Childs wouldn't give any thing up to the new employee till he got a feel of this person's true ability. But the person just went over his head and started spreading doom and gloom till Mr. Childs was arrested. I yet to see this new security officer's name mentioned, gee wonder why that is.... can you say "defamation of character" ??
I 've spent about 10 minutes looking around,I what I've found is apparently this incorporated computer business/web design shop has access to a total of 45 IP's,designates themselves as an Internet Service Provider, yet I can't seem to find any self hosted website to sell their services,Hell, I got a website, and I've only got 1 IP!!! This sounds more like an inept sysadmin running this outfit, some one complained about open relays, and his first thought is,"Call the lawyer,We'll fix this complainer". GET a GRIP and learn your craft,If you're gonna run an ISP,you Should Know what you are doing.
Apparently Someone has an axe to grind......from the Mfr's site,Need I say more?
Jeffrey Levy, age 64, was elected a director in December 1999.member of the United States Air Force from which he retired as a colonel in 1988. He serves as a board member of the Northern Virginia Chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving, the Washington Regional Alcohol Program, the Zero Tolerance Coalition and the National Drunk and Drugged Driving Prevention Month Coalition and is a member of the Virginia Attorney General's Task Force on Drinking by College Students and MADD's National Commission on Underage Drinking.
I had occasion to need all the bits on the drive. Rebuilding a mirror and got a replacement 160G drive, with just that,160gigs, total space. Whereas the drive that was the other 1/2 of the mirror was a 160G,usable space. Just another online order away, mirror got fixed but not as soon as it could have been. Now what do I do with this other drive?Buy another to match it for another mirror?? Still, that would have to be a new clean install. I know, repartition? I paid for 160, I should get 160.
Prosecution of people reporting vulnerabilities on sites should be predicated on the fact that the webmaster knows what he/she is doing. I think some of these legal actions are driven by the fact the the webmaster is an idiot and is embarrassed, not to mention that all that crap he fed his boss about the website being bulletproof is just a bunch of BS.
Where have you been for the last 7 years,in an Egyptian tomb? I don't know anyone who isn't at least behind a router of some brand. I run a linux box in front of all windoz boxes. Are you stoned or stupid, or you just brought your brand new PC home from beeestBuy? I realize that the buitin firewall on a fresh install is totally worthless against the "kiddies" but a standard install on a router give you at least 20 minutes against them. autopatcher, though I personally haven't tried/used it sounds solid to me. I install xp/a,sp1,then sp2 all from cd,then go for updates, yea, its not fast, but I can pick and choose the the updates that go into the machine that I"m building.custom not product! Remember,it's windoz,NUKE and PAVE!!!Nothing like fresh asphalt!
I sugeest a good hardware book like... Printed Circuits Handbook by Clyde F. Coombs ISBN 0-07-012608-9 Without books like this, we would all be reading this via snail mail.
Now we should be nice here, after all MS has brought us OS's like,BOB,and Win95A. Actually, I started downloading RC1 the other day and 2-3 days later I put it on my 1 gig athlon, with 512,and a Number 9 S-3 video card, and I got a score of, 1, on their compatibilty tester, but it really didn't know WHAT to do with my Diamond DTV 2000 capture card,But, it didn't crash. All on all,it's just souped up hybrid of XP and Media center that needs more horsepower than the average user has right now.(Can you say,Bloatware?) Oh, let's build something where everyone needs to upgrade their hardware, (the economy needs a kick in the ***) "Hello,is this Dell? I need a new machine 'cause I want to load Vista,How much will that be?"
So,When is FBI going to send out those letters stating that I must appear at XXX address to get my personal ID number TATTOOED on my forearm? (It won't hurt, just a little pinch...)
A quote from RCA'S/Thomsen history lesson:Thomson is the world's largest supplier of large and very large color TV picture tubes and is actively developing new digital entertainment products that will allow consumers to interact with new media through the internet and other digital systems.
In December 1998, four corporate investors -- MICROSOFT, DIRECTV, ALCATEL, and NEC -- took equity positions in Thomson, after a global search that matched Thomson strengths with key partners to develop new products and services
they stole television from Farnsworth, patented technology that they took from the color consortium, sold their consumer division to thomsen in the 90's and moved the jobs from Indianapolis to Mexico and other offshore places, Now they are back in the "video" business making encryption chips.
What's New?
I have implied this in previous posts, There's no one left at SCO that can read or interpret their code or anyone else's for that matter. Just a bunch of "Suits" and Attorneys "stroking" each other into believing that they know what they are talking about when it comes to deciphering "OUR Source Code". Like hiring your local butcher to do brain surgery! "The operation was a success, the patient died." RIP SCO!
SCO and Microsoft wouldn't get DoS'd if it weren't for poor administration and stupid users of their email clients. They have been told repeatedly NOT to open attachments from unknown sources.Admins are instructed to turn off the preview function.Quit using Outlook/Xpress,give them a text-only client and teach them how to use it and these attacks won't happen.Oh, is this even possible under MS?, probably not.
Maybe someone should send the FTC a copy of Nmap, have them setup a site so non-tech. people can test their server.I'm not very knowledgeable in this area, but surely the FEDs have someone capable.(that's a joke,ha,ha)

It has come down to...
We, The People,
Them, The Government.
I want some of whatever they are smoking.

FBI> we have a court order for the log files on those Indy servers and we order you to supply them to us immediately.
Tech> Well, I think they are in that rack, but I'm not sure which, unless I look it up, plus, I'm in the middle of my game.
FBI> Well Jump to it son 'cause we have a subpoena!
Tech> Well, I'm not touching the data, here's the drive, you figure out where the files you want are.
