I don't think that it is because it's new that it's interesting (clearly its not new) - it's the potentials for integration into our lives that really make it exciting.
Unfortuantly, someone will have to sort out a common standard for this - something which I guess phone companies won't like, as they must make quite a bit of money from chargers. It's a shame - I always though that's what ISO were for - but they never seem very pro-active about it all.
Well, whilst waiting for ad-aware to pick all the rubbish out of my mum's old-skool win98 machine, I thought I'd have a quick gander at/. on her newly installed firefox. I'm glad I did: word must have got out about what I was doing! I've heard that you can find everything you need on an Internet, but wasn't expecting to find it all as the lead story on/.! Fantastic stuff - really helped.
Spent last night doing all the updates and stuff, office updates etc etc, norton updates, zonealarm, adaware, firefox, blah blah. However, upon perusal, I may well have a serious look at avast and sygate's personal offering.
There is no chance I could ever get mum to switch away from windows, just as there is no chance I can get her to switch away from OE:/ (un)fortuantly she doesn't get enough junk/email viruses etc to change her mind (yet). I can't just discontinue support though, even though I feel like it at times, although sometimes the arrangement doesn't work out too bad (she paid for my journey, and feeds and waters me all weekend).
Perhaps this is the case, but surely quantity shouldn't be a substitue for quality. Personally (and I'm sure others will disagree) I would find it more usefull to have less stories, but of higher calibre. As my old computing teacher used to say: "Typing is no substitute for Thinking". Fair enough, maybe all the other gaming news sites are announcing this release: it doesn't mean/. has to as well, and maybe it's a good reason for them not to.

Almost? In the same way that I'm "almost" alive? It's surely more 'almost' than some of the stuff being produced by the merchents more usually known as Microsoft.
Reminds me of one of Bill Gates' first programs - Micro-Soft's 1975 Altair BASIC. Unfortuantly the page I wanted to link to has gone, but this is something from the register at the time: http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/4/18949.html
Finally found a web archive of the page I wanted: http://web.archive.org/web/20011031094552/www.rjh. org.uk/altair/4k/index2.html
A real pity that standards have slipped so much since then.
(I refuse to post anonymously even though I have mentioned Microsoft in a thread about Small Exes. So there:p )
The idea got dropped after the inventor accidentally leaned on the device in a 240V manner.
Sorry, couldn't resist.
