I'm kinda surprised to see Tintin made a headline at/., probably because Spielberg is involved. I remember back when I first came to the US in 1998, the librarian had no idea what is Tintin, as well as Lucky Luke? Seriously, if you grew up with non-American comic, you will truly appreciate how beautiful the comic world is. I grew up with Tintin, Lucky Luke, tons of manga (Captain Subasha, Doraemon, oh, and many), I really hate these shits from America. Batman, Superman, Spiderman suck, BIG TIME. One thing is that, cartoon should not be in color. If they are, they should be in bright color like blue, yellow, not black, dark blue, and red, which I find so common in Marvel comic. Anyways, I probably gonna read Tintin again (this time is the 50th time or more I read every Tintin series). Oh, and FYI, try to look for Lucky Luke, it's very hilarious My two cents
You whore! Do you understand what is hacking? You think that several tricks with several commands then you can hack a system! How juvenile! Mostly in order for security, mostly the protocols are based on the mathematical formulas that it's almost impossible to do brute force. It's mostly about the practice to see whether the hackers could hack the system, not the whole "open source" thing. So sad that there is someone like you among Slashdot readers. BD
Damn!
Me too. Although I really hate to say this, but J++ is really really great as long you don't want to mess with java 1.3 and up. it works fast, nice design!
Damn Bill, you get me addicted!
Hey, we have a new distribution of Linux, it is called "GNU Linux Operating System". I just wonder the author of the article has talked to RMS or not, or have any idea of what Linux is (well, it's kinda hype, and it is cool to say "I just setup Media Player for my Linux box. The app is so cool"
I think the other way around.
Lots of The Sims fans are completely ignore Linux (or don't know how good it is (example: my sister and her buddies) so i think the sims might lure them away from Windows.
I don't know about the future of processor for the next 6 year, but I know that next 6 year, my 233MHz for web and mail server running linux is still good in shape
Funny to see how shallow your viwe is. How do you know that the US is the Satan to a very small group? I wish you can read Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, and tons of other languages to read forums, newspapers from other countries to see their view towards the US. Well, but I don't support the terrorists? I just think killing other innocent people to pay for other innocent people is just simply wrong. It's like two talented ping-pong player. They play, and they play and never stop (Bush vs. Bin Laden) only innocent people suffer (the ball)
this is basically an evidence of a person who is stupified by the US government. How do you know Taliban kill their own people? Through CNN and all sorts of U.S news agencies. Like in Vietnam war, communists were bad people rite? You're so wrong! My advice to you is that before making any judgment, go out and see the TRUTH!
I don't know why DrPascal raised this question. Any comparision between Windows and Linux which is not about UI is ridiculous. Windows is just a bulk of shit, and will always be. It's like comparision the math talent of two person, one whose IQ is above 150 and goes to MIT, the other is below 70. We (Slashdot users) all know that Linux rules. Blaming Microsoft doesn't make Linux better or M$ worse!

Funny:
Outlook 2K has been making me reboot all the time. I thought this doesn't repeat as I upgrade the whole thing to Win 2K, but it still does. Lots of RAM. Anyways, have you ran StarOffice. Well, I think it's an OK product. The only thing is that I am poisoned by those guys in Redmond already, but it will take time to get back the Star flavor

At University of Washington, EE Department, we have the first ever Linux lab with about 30 boxes in it. But you know what, there are only about 1 or 2 people spend time with tux here. That's sad. (and we still use Pine, just think how bad it is)
BD
Well, I am still use Win2K and are ready to upgrade to XP. M$ software is cheap in my country (about $1.5 for my Win2k), so why not. but my default lilo is linux anyways. since 1970, unix still runs great. running windows just to see how far M$ is behind the TUX

Just a beginner of Linux community (for a while, I was a fan of a man next door, his name is Bill something). I wonder how many kernels realeased a year? What is the benefit for that?
Well,
Will we have a machine running an OS with Java (you can say JOS, but what is under it?)
Embedded programmers are dead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh no!!!!!!!!!

I'm listening to the interview. And well, NPR is not for nerds. I have the feeling that the host actually doesn't know what Linux is. But it's nice to listen to Linus talking about MIcrosoft then, in a non-technical view
I just have no comments. what a better combination.
crash + crash --> super CRASH
Here is the formula for them
MONOPOLY + MONOPOLY = BULL ****
WINDOWS XP + AOL = JUNK
Last week I went to the beta test of XP, and how disappointed I am.
I have to say that I WAS a Windows hardcare fan, but about a year or so, I like Unix better.

ok, so does smaller form factor mean better? well, in terms of space yes, but how about the heat?
For a year or so, now is the first time ever I have seen how ./ers would kill off servers.
How ironic is the hacks server is hacked itself!
It might be stupid, it might be smart, who knows, just to see the results of hi-tech

i think your code doesn't compile anyways, and it's C++ code
