  1. I wonder who will try to squash this first? on NymIP: Anonymity At The IP Layer · · Score: 1

Will it be Microsoft or the world governments that try to squash this? It really looks like something that I'd love to use. It's the same with most security technologies, I'd love to be able to use them... but they just aren't there yet.

  2. Been there, done that on Certifying Software As Secure? · · Score: 1

In the past both the US and the USSR crashed probes or stages of spacecraft into the moon in order to obtain geological data about it. What we did IIRC was use laser interferometry to establish the distance to the moon to within a few wavelengths, then we crashed parts of the lunar landers into it and saw what kind of disturbance we got. Again IIRC it rang like a bell, indicating an essentially homogenous sphere of rock instead of a seismically active body with a molten core.

Just because a technology was developed by the Chinese does not mean it's bad. Have you ever considered that what was developed was a press release, or maybe a few well planted leaks? Both sides of the Cold War did this for years, and still do it. Using the media to plant seeds of doubt? Think Viet-Nam, Korea, Tokyo Rose in WW2. None of this is new.

Now if the Chi-Coms have invented and put into practice this technology, it only means we need to find a way to circumvent it. Say, by bombing TV and radio stations first.

Really folks, we have bigger problems to worry about. You know, the Chinese has the first compass. They kept it in a room and never used it until Marco Polo showed up with his. They pulled it out and said, so what?

Don't forget it was a Russian scientist who invented Stealth. He published a paper that inspired our development of the prototype.

Really, did you think the NSA would say anything true to CNN? You know that a lot of ex-government types work for the press in America, right? That getting an article like this onto CNN is probably a matter of Bob calling Alice and complaining about work, and Alice says maybe this is a good story, and Bob protests a little but never says no, and then you're all running around patting each other on the back for being so great while Bob and his minions at Ft Meade cackle with glee.
