  1. I've had several LED bulbs burn out in 1-2 years. The LED itself is probably still fine, but the electronics died.

  2. decades ago researchers discovered out how to make cheap lightbulbs that last forever, but makers collectively realized that it would kill their business and decided not to make them.

    That's dumb. It would be smarter to sell them at a hefty premium.

    Come the next ice age we will need to burn all that oil and coal currently in the ground.

    We've already burned more than enough oil and coal to stop the next ice age.

    This is why "Global Warning" is now called "Climate Change".

    The term "Climate Change" has been pretty common for several decades now. The IPCC, for example, was founded in 1988.

    The US has had a negative balance of trade since the 70's, meaning that each year they need to borrow money from the rest of the world to support their standard of living.

    That would be "executing officer" as not arrest would have been attempted.

    First, I was not the AC. Secondly, it is widely understood that surface temperature record means the temperature of the air just above the ground. Mind reading has nothing to do with it.

    Because then he will have achieved at least one his goals, to prove that his way of doing things is right.

    I couldn't care less about his goals. He wouldn't be around to enjoy them, anyway.

    To get revenge, deter others, and to prevent him from doing it again.

    You can't stop them being dangerous people in future.

    Sure you can. Just bury them in the ground, and bury their heads somewhere else.

    We cannot TRUST the government NOT to abuse its authority. So we have to LIMIT that authority.

    That makes no sense. If you can limit the government's authority, then trust is not needed.

    Maybe in cases like this some levels of appeal can be skipped so as to get to the highest authority faster.

    A few shots in the chest by the arresting officer would do the trick.

    We're not ISIS... if we want to be better than such people, we can't do that sort of thing...

    I'd feel better if they were dead and we didn't have to worry about them anymore.

    Animals only kill each other if it's in their own best interest. Humans do the same thing, except in a more socially complex environment.

    I accept that. I also accept if other humans punishes him harshly for it.

    I could care less if you're grateful or not. Just don't expect anybody to come help your sorry ass if your life falls apart because billions of others are competing for the same resources as you, and they're working harder.

    Says the guy posting to an internet forum, from a computer, in what I can safely assume is a well lit, well heated building. Although, it is pretty easy to judge and speculate from your Mom's basement I'd imagine.

    Just like you, I live a life in luxury. I fully expect it to end, though. Thankfully, I'm already more than half way, and I'm still doing fine.

    Butterflies aren't really changing the energy balance, even if they manage to change the distribution. In the end, global warming is a fairly simple story of energy out vs energy in.
