I don't really understand the retooling... They seem like pretty sweeping changes to me.;) Or am I crazy?
I wonder how the original looked.... With this new fangled internet you'd think there'd be a way to get a copy of the original script. Course they probably burned it before anyone thought to steal it and wait around 5 or 8 years for the internet to be invented.
They did make the sequal. Afaik, they reworked the script into big trouble in little china. Another excellent film.
I'd provide a link or something, but I can't remember where I read that and can't find it on the net. Assume I'm lying if you like, but I remember reading that from a credible source.
I _just_ read the last line of your post.:)
Question: Do you know where you read that fun fact?
What really upsets me... I work at an ILEC in michigan. We do billing for a bunch of CLECs and they're pretty much going to get destroyed by this. See part of the regs they want to axe relate to sharing the last mile. This dereg will literally put hundreds of CLECs out of business overnight.
SBC won't want to share with the 3 CLECs we deal with. They won't play nice, they'll simply up the rental fees until the CLECs are gone.
I don't want to hear any whining from SBC about how it costs too much to share either. We (at our little telco) know that's a lie... Everyone at the small ILEC/CLECs know -- and so do the people at SBC. But people with money always win... *shrug*
My boss, a fairly intellegent business man and president of a local ilec, says that for every $1 an employee would spend on themselves, they're willing to spend $20 on company stuff.
I'm not sure what study he was quoting, but he keeps his costs down be having us imagine that we're shopping for ourselves. In a way we are...
See, that's why I gave money. That's why I'm literally a card carrying menber of the ACLU.
I actually joined after 9/11 cuz the religious right was freaking me out. This most recent news is just extra. I'll be giving them money again this year.
As much as I hate spam, I think it should be up to the RBLs and the SpamAssassins to take care of it. The opt-in thing isn't really
realistic. I just don't see how it's enforceable. The source is barely traceable.
Also, ya know those vile pre-recorded telemarketing calls ya get? Those are almost always a competitor trying to get someone in
trouble. Now prove that you didn't send the spam? I dare ya...
On the other hand, same as when you waste someone's fax paper/toner, what should be illegal is the theft of service
that takes place.
I don't think very many spammers actually send mail from their own ISP. They tend to use open relays and broken mail servers
instead.
Of course, it shows how screwy our legal system is. I can't call up the police and ask 'hey, I'm thinking of doing this.. is it legal?' They won't tell me. But if I do it, and it's illegal, they will arrest me.
That's not quite true. In kalamazoo MI, I have several times now, called the county prosecuter and/or the public safty office and asked, "Is it unlawful to:....?"
Every time I've done this, they either help me or tell me who I need to talk to next.
light. And not just from the acretion disc. Things can actually get bounced out from the event horrizon... er, so they don't occupy the same space or whatnot.:)
I paid... just so I could see how it worked. It's neat. I think the amount should be quite a bit lower... then I'd likely buy it over and over. $5 is just too much for something ya don't need at all. How 'bout a dollar?
If they need a real example of a system that works, they need look no farther than Half-Life or Quake3 -- they can be played on LANs without authentication, but by and large, you need a licensed copy to play on the Internet.
They don't need to do anything... they already won.
the problem with subpoenaing book orders is... how do you know I didn't get that book on terrorist methods so I could know my enemy? how do you know I didn't get a book on breaking into phone companies so I could protect my billing servers? an American should never have to defend their reading habits.
remember the secret service agent that wasn't allowed on the plane cuz he was middle eastern? the part about that story that really got me: The flight attendant rifled through his bag after he was escorted off the aircraft. in it, she found a book on middle eastern history... and he had to defend the nature of the book publicly. that is wrong.
No, I was saying that linux is stable enough, it's fast enough, and windows irritates me to no end.
I can't really tell which one is faster... and for me, windows crashes a lot, linux stays up forever... I keep hearing that XP is more stable...
Who really cares was my point. Windows irritates me and I'm happy with linux. *shrug* So I keep reading these blurbs and wondering... who really cares? Use what ya like.
Who cares which one is faster, or better, or more stable. Seriously. I just plain don't like Windows. I dare them to address that. I think I can sum it up: I was typing the other day... a window poped up. Something had happened. I inadvertantly hit enter (since I was already typing) and as a result, still don't know what the message said... Well, that and I lost what I was typing. The irritation factor was a 9.6.
Cygwin almost works... I use that at work. But it's all slow and icky. I've known for a million years that ext2 is slow, but I like that filesystem a shatload more than some of the faster ones... Mostly, I think that's because I know how it works. I can look it up. ls -l shows me a bit more under linux, ya know?
I don't really understand the retooling... They seem like pretty sweeping changes to me. ;) Or am I crazy?

How is mozilla (for instance) incomplete, unfinished, unoptimized, and untested?
I wish I could get paid to sling FUD too... *sigh* I have a real job though.
good coders can write readable code in any language. bad coders cannot. So just what are you saying?
bash$ stty erase ^H
That should take care of the problem.

That's the only thing that should be illegal.
I bought 17 shares of NYSE:LU when it was only $22/share... I figured it couldn't go any lower.
*sigh*

I thought the holloween documents were just a joke.
funny, sure... but I was pretty sure they're fiction.

I don't see why it's wrong at all. All they do is publish information... they remove you quite quickly if you goof up...
It's a simple matter. Just check the thing after a reconfig.
Personally, I actually check that every time I reconfigure... Your loss I guess.
I use several blackhole lists.
... so I had to turn them off.
... nobody uses cuz they block too much legitimate mail.
In the real world, the users want this, but the ones that cause more trouble their worth don't get used much.
I had a couple favorites that blocked all spam. All of it. But they also started blocking things like hotmail and yahoo!
And that's the thing. The blackhole lists really do work. But the stupid ones
The w3c recoomending XML? This is the most shocking thing since Skate Gate
So I'm thinkin' most of the /. crew went drinkin' to celebrate cmdrtaco's new news?
... well, thinest yet. :)
Cuz the articles got pretty thin after that... and this was

I do in fact have that set... it's a kludge, works most of the time; but doesn't work for modal windows and free dialogs.
Nice try.

There is no moral issue... it's a religious issue.
I'll give you a hint, since you seem to need it, only religious groups think there's a moral issue.
I would actually buy one of these.
I suspect hundreds of people would. All their calls are long distance (to block the ANI). Peachy.
Are you actually going to build this device?
