The parent poster is Canadian, not European. Let me spell this out for you -- Canada is the large country to the north of you where people are generally well-educated, well-informed, friendly and not prone to swallowing propaganda.

BTW, Eurotrash is generally used to refer to trust-fund kiddies in NYC who spend their days partying, not all Europeans. If you must denigrate us, at least choose an insult that isn't already taken.

As a citizen of a former British colony (Ireland) I think I can fairly say that colonialism is not the problem. Ireland had it hard under the British, blah-blah-blah, but 50 years after independence the place was still an economic backwater with low incomes, by western European standards. What changed in the last 25 years? People stopped blaming the Brits, the government, anybody but themselves for their problems and started working hard, starting small business, availing of the excellent free education system and so on.

I don't deny that colonialism can cause problems, and I certainly disagree with the tone and content of the parent post, but there's a good deal of truth in. You ARE on your own now. African nations are responsible for their own destinies. Have a revolution if your governments are corrupt, un-democratic and inefficient.

It's unfortunate that you worked with such a bunch of unhelpful people. That was never my experience in 12+ years working on the system in Ireland, the UK, Germany, The Netherlands, France and the US.

The system is quite intuitive -- the verb / noun structure of commands makes it easy to guess at the format of a command you don't know, as does the help / prompting system, and the command completion system.

The AS stands for Application System. The security is in place to prevent you from doing things that you aren't authorized to do -- no different from UNIX or any other secured system.

Your comment regarding security exposes a lack of knowledge in general, so perhaps I should have said ignorant instead of stupid.
