Yes, what about that article? Steve Ballmer visited Finland, and while he was here, he told that he would love to see MS co-operate with Nokia. Nokia refused. End of story. If I remember correctly, they (Nokia) have told that they "don't want same thing to happen to mobile-phones that has happened to the PC, where one company has stranglehold on it". Of course, we all know what that "company" is they are referring to.
In fact, there's a urban legend here in Finland (I dunno that is it true or not), that MS top executives (led by Mr. Gates himself) visited Nokia HQ few years back, and they tried to push Win CE to Nokias future phones... Well, Nokia execs literally laughed at them! Needless to say, Nokia chose Symbian, and MS went back home empty-handed.
Person buys some beer from 7-eleven (or something) and drinks it. then he goes to some some bars and drinks some more. In the end he gets drunk. Then he decides to climb over a fence that protects a hi-voltage powerline-tower and then he climbs the tower and gets hit by something like 100.000 volts. He survives. then he sues the shop for selling him the beer, the bars for selling him alcohol, and the electric company for "not protecting the tower well enough".
On halloween night a plane is landing to some airport. During the landing, it gets hit my some turbulence (perfectly normal). Well, 12 passengers decide to sue the airline for "causing extreme fear of dying" and they won!
Man buys a Big Mac. As he's eating it, a hot pickel falls on his chin. He gets awarded 40.000 dollars.
I got these from www.cala.org. I don't think they are there anymore though:(.
I mean.... Sheesh! I remember few years ago some americans sued a finnish company here in Finland, and they made similar demands (they demanded millions for something really stupid). I don't remember the details. I do remember that they were laughed out of the courtroom.
Well, I guess some people don't get a joke even when it hits them in the head. Aww, bummer, maybe my sense of humor is just too complex/weird. damn, it's 2.40am in here, maybe I'm just not thinking straight.... I guess.... I don't know... Have to go to bed... zzzzzz
I know it's a foreign concept to Linux companies, but see, Microsoft actually has money to pay their employees. VA Linux might soon be reduced to paying their employees with sexual favors
You are missing the point. Open Source developers don't do it for the money, they do it because they like it;)
I posted this on the O'reilly site (I really would like to hear an answer to this one!)
"Recent remark by Microsoft managers (among others, yourself and Steve Ballmer)regarding Linux, GPL and Open Source have been full of errors. Regarding that fact, which of the two suggestions is correct:
1. The managers of Microsoft are extremely un-informed when it comes to their "biggest threat" (as said by Steve Ballmer). In which case we can seriously question their expertise regarding matters conserning the software industry.
2. Or that the managers of Microsoft have deliberatly lied and spread misinformation regarding their competitors (which of course is completely un-ethical)."

So... In short: Bill Gates wrote a book in 1995 about the future of computing, and he didn't mention the Internet. OK...
What was his job again? Back then he was a CEO of the biggest software company in the world, and now-a-days he's their "Chief Software Architech"? Well, it's a good thing that MS has such a visionary at their helm... Good for the Linux-community that is...
"Who gives a shit about an ugly acne ridden geek from some foreign country?"
So, it would be better if Linux was developed by an american? How come? Linus is a foreigner to YOU, to me he's not (We share the homeland)
And last time I checked, Linux is doing better and better! Desktop is getting better (and FAST), Distros are getting better, the kernel is getting better. And what's important, it's obvious that Microsoft is scared! There's no other explanation for the recent FUD-attacks!
Knowing how full of holes IIS is and how easy it is for developers to find and repair security-bugs in Apache, it's a good thing to use it! Why else majority of worlds web-sites run Apache?
I certainly DO like the integrated sound:)! I might be upgrading my comp at the end of this year, and chipset might just be powering my next mobo. And I wouldn't need a sound-card with this one! But external video-card would be a must!
Now, all I wanna know is: How well does this thing overclock? We need all those extra FSB-MHZ and memory MHZ we can get!
No, not really. Going from AGP 1x to 2x does help, but move from 2x to 4x is hardly noticeable. I fail to see any significant improvements in using "AGP 6x". I would much rather have GF3 running at AGP4x than GF2MX running at AGP6x
What I would like to see, is a MB chipset identical to this, but without the integrated graphics! I would certainly be getting a add-on 3D-card, so having intergrated graphics is useless to me, it only increases the price of the chipset
....Whenever sales of CD's drop, it's automatically Napsters fault? If I remember correctly, record-sales have been at a record-level recently. But RIAA and their henchmen think that it doesn't prove a thing. But when sales of CD's drop 0,0003%, they start shouting "See! We were right! Napster is hurting our business!"
"but in fact, Tito is an expert in the field. He's an ex-Nasa engineer."
That doesn't make him an expert on these things. Hell, I work for the biggest electronics distributor in the world, and I don't know a thing about electronic components!
Just because you work for NASA doesn't make you an expert regarding space-travel
"On the subject of the Finnish...our favorite Finn is actually of the Swedish ethnicity, and just happened to be living in Finland."
Well, not exactly. He's a 100% finn who just happens to belong to the 6% minority who speaks swedish.

I never read Bill Gates's book, so I have to ask.... Is it true that he never mentioned the Internet in his book "The Road Ahead"?
