I had a 10Gb HD, but as it got full, I added a 30Gb ATA100 HD. Hmmmm... I guess third HD wouldn't hurt. My Windoze is on the 10Gb HD, and all those games are eating up alot of space!
No problem. If you can't make hard-drives with more density, then just get more. If the limit is say 500gigs, then just get two 500gig hard-drives, problem solved! Alot more room for all that pr0n (not that I have any, no sir-ree!)
If Psion sells the divisions making the PDA's, I would like to see Nokia buy it. They have the means to develop and market the devices agressively. I have always thought that PDA's is what Nokia misses. Sure, they have the communicators, but they still are niche-devices.
this seems particularly notable given that GNOME was created in part to make a Free desktop, not just an Open Source desktop.
Yes, and Gnome shows this by having for-profit corporation (Ximian) backed by venture-capital as central part of all things Gnome. Way to go! *cough* not *cough*...
KDE is free desktop licensed under GPL. It's toolkit (Qt) is licensed under GPL. Why continue talking about is KDE free or not, and what does KDE developers feel about it. It's just as free as Gnome is (without "pollution" of venture capital though), learn to live with it.
Now go back and ask your friendly neighbourhood commissioner how many EU countries even have plans in place to ratify Kyoto. I'll save you the trouble: 0.
Try: all of them. in the year 2002 at the latest.
The protests about Kyoto are great because of their breathtaking display of European hypocracy. Not a single country any of those protesters are from has signed the treaty or has any plan to.
the plan is to ratify the treaty EU-wide in 2002 at the latest. They are still working out the details. And even though it hasn't been ratified yet, EU has promised to honor the agreement.
1. Comparing the US's attempts to enforce embargos on communist countries run by dictators to the EU's implied goal of protecting European businesses to the detriment of US business is COMPLETELY INVALID.
Well, I don't know all the details on that decision by the antitrust-authorities, but.... The point was that why does USA have the right to punish european companies for doing business with countries USA doesn't happen to like? EU doesn't have the right to block american mergers which affect Europe, but USA has the right to punish european-companies for something that has NOTHING to do with USA?
3. If the Europeans want to go ahead with Kyoto, why haven't they ratified it?!?!
They haven't ratified it yet because they are still discussing the details (how much each individual countries must cut emissions.) Kioto-reaty says that EU as a whole must cut emissions by 23% from their 1990-level, but the emissions-cuts can be different for each individual EU-country. For example, right now it seems that Portugal can increase it's emissions from 1990-levels slightly, whereas Germany has to cut it's emissions by about 30%.
The plan is to ratify the Kioto-treaty EU-wide in 2002 at the latest. And even though we haven't yet ratified it, we have agreed to follos it, and are working towards full ratification
Here we go again... First of all, the Kioto Treaty demands MORE from European countries than it does from USA! And we are willing to comply! You are not, even when it would be easier for you to follow the guidelines set by the treaty.
As for EU trying to regulate american companies.... Funny, it wasn't long ago when USA threatened to punish european companies who did business with Libya or Cuba (Elf Acquitane and Peugeot-Citroen just to name few).
So, either you don't know what you are talking about or you are just plain hypocritical. USA can do whatever it pleases to others, but nobody else can do the same to USA, eh?
I'm the one who wrote the original message (forgot to log in first)
Yep, asking for first-born child for speeing is unreasonable. But saying "if you break the law using our equipment, well will fine you 150% per incident" is not IMHO unreasonable.
They had a term in the agreement, they had the means to monitor that it's being upheld, why wouldn't they have the means to enforce it as well?
The erason why Linus is in USA is simple: his emplyer is there. That does NOT mean that he adores the american way of life and/or thinks it superior to all other ways of life. He just works there. I can think of several good reason why he would like to come back to Finland (I believe he's still finnish-citizen). Cheap hi-quality health-care, free education for his children, low crime-rate, high level of technology... But he's not coming back for now, because his workplace is in USA, it's as simple as that.
There are americans working for Nokia in Finland. Does that mean that they think finnish way of life is superior to american? I don't think so. They just work here, that's all.
The Law should not be broken, but ACME don't have a right to enforce the law.
No, Acme is NOT enforcing the law! They are enforcing the agreement they made with the guy who rented the car (and who agreed to their terms)! The terms were that he must not break the speed-limit. If he did, they would fine him. He broke the speed-limit, and (according to the contract) Acme fined him for it. It's as simple as that
If Acme was allowed to just charge consumers under the claim that they broke the law...
No, they are not fining the driver for breaking the law, they are fining him for breaking the rules of the agreement (which he agreed upon when he rented the car). When he rented the car, he agreed to Acmes terms, and then he decided to break those terms, and Acme fined him for it, all according to the terms of the contract.
I find it EXTREMELY surprising that some people are still under the impression that either KDE or Qt (or both) are not free software! I'm not involved in either project (I'm just a ordinary KDE-user), and even I know how things are! Then why do some people directly (more or less) involved in Gnome still think that KDE and/or Qt is not under GPL? I would think that they knew alot more about these things that I do, but apparently it's not so.
If you have spent 5 minutes going through trolltechs web-site and kde.org, you would have found out that Qt is licensed under QPL and GPL and KDE is licensed under GPL. So what's the problem?
RMS has done ALOT of good things to Linux and Free Software in general, but the way he handled the KDE/Qt-issue is just plain awful! First he condemned KDE and Qt, because at that time Qt was under QPL and not GPL. Then with his blessing, Gnome-project was started. So I can understand why Gnome is his pet-project
And what happened when Qt got licensed under GPL? No, RMS didn't congratulate them for embracing Free Software. He said (and I quote here): "you have to beg for forgiveness". Oh come on!. Just what the hell is that about?
Maybe he was just annoyed that the project he loved to hate lost the only reason he had to hate it.
Everybody talks about Palm vs. Ipaq vs. Agenda vs. Yopy. Well, how about Psion? I have the Revo, and I love that thing! Excellent screen, excellent keyboard to type in information (graffiti? no thanks!). Only thing missing is the backlight, and it really isn't as bad as you might think it is.
And how about the Nokia 9210? Well, for now, that's only for euros. Color-screen, keyboard, built-in GSM-phone... What more do you want?
I have fiddled with some Palms, and I fail to see the attraction. But I guess to each accodinfg to his needs, and Palm doesn't satisfy my needs.
It was only a minor miracle he wasn't on the Ballot in Florida.
Are you sure he wasn't?

No, the graphics won't be more than average - the GeForce 2MX, which is what Nvidia has integrated onto this motherboard, has been their value graphics chip for some time now.
You are comparing apples to oranges. nForce in by far the most powerful integrated graphics chipset there is! When you compare it to other integrated chips, you will see that there really is no comparison! Sure, add-on cards are of course faster, but when it comes to integrated graphics, nForce blows everything else away!
