Fact: the wives of the mayor and of the other politician are not in the board: Wikipedia reported false facts.

The lie was used as a mean to attack the mayor, kind of guerrilla marketing (you should be familiar with all the false claims on Obama: it's about the same).

A guy in Florence, who tried to spread the false claim has already been sentenced for defamation.

The Slashdot post reports the Fact 1 as true. The guy who reported the story did not get it: incompetence or bad will ?

We should put these guys in charge of airport security etc. - I bet they can identify terrorists just by looking at them, too. "Hey, he's got a turban! And a beard! It's ONE OF THEM!" They are already acting this way, unluckily.

In a distant future this years will be called "la stupide époque".

They are supposed to catch exactly this kind of errors.

In some sparkling wine is called spumante, and is the Italian version of Champagne. Asti is a version of this spumante, produced in the area of the city called Asti.

We have several other sparkling wines, sometimes with different names: e.g. Prosecco (di Valdobbiadene)

BTW: the French word perlage (don't remind were are the acccents) refers to the size of the gas bubbles, and is a well known fact that a small perlage is a sign of good sparkilng wine. This research has only stated a known fact, nothing special.

The fact that Salon original work is so cited in Slashdot is a clear signal that it's worthy.

I live outside the USA and I had to choose between paying Salon or subcribing to Time: the choice has been simple, I preferred a web magazine that has plenty of new content everyday.

I'm paying for this quality content, not for their business plan...
