I am totally in agreement with Apple and their arguments are sound, the "can't compel" and "free speech" arguments of many Apple supporters however, are full of shit. EVERY SINGLE BUSINESS in the country is "compelled" by the feds to conduct their business in a certain way. It's called regulation.
GPL3 is more restrictive than GPL2, there is no way around this truth. A lot of companies are avoiding GPL2 like the plague, so trying to sell them on a "but this one is only very slightly worse for you" license is an absurd exercise in futility.
So basically these devices will never be sold in my country (Finland), since the 900Mhz band is reserved and used for LTE by 3 different carriers here.
I have a question thats's been bothering me for a long time now. It's obvious to me that a collision with a large object in space is easy to both predict and avoid, but what about small pieces of debris? How does a spaceship detect and avoid collisions with miniscule pieces (say 5-10cm in diameter), since even such a small piece of rock could most likely cause critical damage when it hits a spaceship at something like 20km/s.
It is a LOT easier to create an app that works well on the Android tablet my grandma bought in 2011 and on my fancy new Moto X than an app that works on an iPod Touch bought in 2011 and an iPhone 6 with retina.
One of the big reasons why I stick to iOS devices is precisely that I can count on them to be supported for many years. The iPad 2, launched on 11.03.2011 can run the latest OS released just a few months ago. Good luck getting that kind of support lengh with an Android device. If this lawsuit results in Apple just starting to cut off support earlier, I am going to rage.
They didn't just decide to pay the ransom of their own volition. They were pressured into it by third parties who were suffering major economic losses due to the attack. Their ISP was basically taken offline, along with all of their other business customers.
According to your logic, Iran has fantastic freedom of speech: you can say anything you want about the Ayatollah or Muhammad, it's just that you will be held accountable (your head cut off):)
Software development has been moving away from that model for quite some time now whereever at all possible. Facebook updates their code live many times daily, so does Amazon and while you could argue Facebook doesn't power anything critical, Amazob AWS sure as hell does. It's cheaper, faster and more efficient.
How convinient of you to omit that the bankers repaid that money with interest and the taxpayer made a nice profit. But let's not let the truth get in the way of some nice karma whoring.
You keep using that word, it does not mean what you think it does. In this case, it's actually the total opposite.
1) People can and do vote with their wallets. Nobody HAS to order Netflix. In any country.
2) If the stuff french filmmakers produce is not wanted by consumers, well that's too damn bad. Adapt or die.
Except you most definately can get stripped of an academic title.
But the data in question is NOT publically available. It requires an OKCupid account and agreeing to their TOS.
He was arrested in Spain for running a business in Costa Rica. How exactly does the US have even the slightest jurisdiction to prosecute him?
all the massive subsidies that solar/wind get? How about we remove subsidies from ALL and then wait and see what and who can stand on their own?
Because you shouldn't get to decide what other people can or can't do to themselves.
You are basically saying it's illegal to sell software which can be patched later, which is obviously false.

At the speeds a DVR would actually use to write things to the drive, modern SSDs will outlast HDDs by a pretty large margin.
Another alternative title: "India would rather it's poorest have no Internet access at all instead of having a limited one India finds objectionable"
You mean the bailout that was repaid back with interest so the taxpayer made a PROFIT on the whole affair?

By giving up privacy, you gain the ILLUSION of safety.

Did he prove he has standing to sue? Isn't that what most (all?) other lawsuits failed to do resulting in dismissal?

You need to immideately contact Facebook and warn them they are wasting money on this project.

"Yet respondents cited by the FCC show that as may as 30% of 911 calls from NSI phones are for legitimate emergencies"
= As much as 70% of 911 calls from NSI phones are fraudulent.

I am not sure whether its sad or funny when people are so out of touch with reality as to call companies making massive amounts of money "start-ups".
