Hell, around me a good portion of the cable networks and local stations have yet to upgrade beyond 480i and most of those that did are at only 720i!
The point is TVs are a bargain bin commodity right now. So every manufacturer is trying to outdo the rest with bulletpoint features that may or may not ever be used to sell their high-end, high-profit-margin systems.
Don't we pretty much have that? I mean, bluetooth seems pretty standard for most controllers on phones and consoles (except MS) and the button count on most controllers has been more or less the same since the Playstation 2 Dual Shock Controller, which just built on the SNES controller.
Simple (adj): having few parts : not complex or fancy Easy (adj): not hard to do : not difficult
Examples of simple but not easy:
1) Digging a large hole with a small shovel. Simple, insert shovel, pull out dirt, repeat. Not easy as it is time consuming and back-breaking labor.
2) Losing weight and staying fit. Simple, eat a small amount of calories and exercise to burn off what you do eat. Not easy for many people, just go ask any fat person why they are still fat when it is obviously such a simple process.
The 80's called, they want their stereotypes back.
Besides, who spends the entirety of Christmas Day with their family outside of little kids? We go over for dinner around 2:00 we leave around 6:00. We all live fairly close by so it isn't like we never see each other. I doubt I am that far off from average in that regard. I know I will be pissed if I can't enjoy playing my new game console on the one day I have off.
No, you seem to be missing the subtle nuance of the situation. Sony and Microsoft as companies can both fuck-off and die. However, taking down the online game servers isn't attacking either of them as a company, it is attacking the people who bought their products and wanted to play on what could be their only day off.
I know that I only get off on Christmas Day and New Years Day. I don't have school holidays where I can get a whole week or two off. So if I get my one chance to sit down and play and the servers are down, I'm not going to blame Sony or Microsoft (OK, I probably will). I am going to blame these assholes who took down the servers because reasons.
We don't have any hint of terra forming tech today
Are you kidding? One of the biggest and first steps in terraforming Mars is to introduce massive amounts of carbon and greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere to warm it up on the global scale. We are experts in that field because we are doing it to our own planet at an alarming rate.
Since we know that there is water on Mars, everything else is duck soup. Transplanting plants, especially algae, ferns, trees can turn massive amounts of carbon dioxide and water into oxygen on the long term. It is a fairly simple and straightforward process but it takes a long time.
How the hell is he still leading the field on the Republican side?
The last few decades have shown that the Republican Party is dominated by the craziest person with the loudest voice. Whereas elections were won by who could prostitute themselves to the richest sugardaddy. Now we have a loud, insane guy who is his own sugardaddy.
Then again, I don't truly believe that Trump is as popular as he appears. It is just that the Media loves a side-show. Half just want the comedy, half are just filling time with his antics. Donald Trump is a brand and he really knows how to market himself. They are playing right into his strategy.
It really is a matter of perspective. If I say China, you probably say Manufacturing, maybe electronics. Middle East, probably oil. Are the economies of those areas more nuanced than that, hell yes. Now think about it on a galactic scale. What is the one or two word summation for the economy for, say, Vulcan. Probably Science. I am sure Vulcans have many industries with imports, exports, defense, manufacturing, pop culture, poetry, etc. But what is most prominent about their culture? Pointy-eared scientists who are logical to a fault.
Even then, I can also see that if there is a world with an indigenous and very valuable resource, that that industry could easily take over to become the dominant economy of an entire planet (main industry plus smaller economies supporting that industry). Especially if it was colonized specifically to mine this resource. We can see this happening in here (as mentioned by the GPP).
Exactly. I hadn't thought about it much until now, but if Thunderbird goes away, what will I use?
Thunderbird. Just because the project will be discontinued by Mozilla, doesn't mean they uninstall it from your computer. You can keep using it for as long as you want to. Hell, I still know people who religiously use VB6 and Office 2000 on their production machines because "why fix what ain't broken." Now, after a few years when it starts feeling old, then ask the question. But by then, I'm sure the source code will have been forked to a new project or two or a new competitor will emerge.
I agree, the problem wasn't so much Hayden as it was Lucas' poor writing and lack of direction. The fact that the sets were just giant blue screens didn't help. In the prequels, Ewan McGreggor, Liam Neeson, Natalie Portman, and Samuel L Muthafucking Jackson are all giving lackluster performances. If Sam Jackson comes off as wooden, what chance does a novice like Hayden Christensen stand?
I really don't care for the guy, and I couldn't stand the character of Anakin but I think he just gets too much of the blame for the prequels.
1) Matter of Opinion. Sony has some damn good exclusives as well (e.g. Uncharted, LittleBigPlanet, Infamous, Gran Turismo, etc.) It all depends on where your tastes lie.
2, 3) Kinect is pretty much dead at this point. Since it is now an optional $100 addon, few people are buying it and no one is making games for it anymore. Since a good portion of the media center stuff requires Kinect (such as changing channels on the cable box) a good portion of the media center integration is useless as well.
4) Evil multinational corporation currently HQ'ed in US vs Evil multinational corporation currently HQ'ed in Japan.
On one hand, I totally agree. The fact that seasons seem to be between 6 and 12 episodes these days with some shows going as low 3 episodes, it just seems to be too little content. However, looking back at some of my favorite old shows, I realize just how much is pointless filler. So on the other hand I prefer quality over quantity.
Thinking about it, I would probably prefer 12 really solid episodes than 30 episodes of much more varying quality, half of which are just filler.
As a fan of the House of Cards remake, I disagree. As long as they continue to make quality shows, I wish them the best. Much better than the vast majority of trash that constitutes TV today.
I want quality content and support any and all who care to make it.
They said the same about Battlestar Galactica. While I hate the BSG remake as a remake, it was a good series in-and-of-itself. If it is done with care and treats the premise with dignity, it has the potential to be a good series. It doesn't need to be a "gritty reboot", it just needs to take itself seriously.
That was the major problem with the original series, and a good portion of other series from the era, it was just too campy for it's own good.
I hated that movie, I am so glad that Bill Mumy and Jonathan Harris wanted nothing to do with it. The only bright spot was that they brought back Dick Tufeld to voice the robot. Well, that and the skin-tight uniforms on Mimi Rogers and Heather Graham.
If you only care about graphics, get a PS4. Of the two, it is simply the most powerful console (though a mid-end PC or better will easily beat it. However as we have seen with Ubisoft games and more recently, Arkham Knight, PC game ports are more likely to be unoptimized and buggy if not outright broken.) PS4 is the most popular console at the moment and will probably have the superior ports of multiplatform games. It also has some great exclusives like Uncharted, Gran Turismo, Infamous, and LittleBigPlanet.
If you don't mind the Microsoft Ecosystem (you said about considering a Windows gaming PC), The Xbox has some very interesting features. While the graphics are technically subpar vs the PS4, most people won't really notice. The backwards compatibility means you can pick up cheap 360 games (which are on the supported games list) in addition to more recent games. The best feature is that if you get a cheap Windows 10 PC, you can use the Xbox app to stream games from the XBone to your PC, which if you have a family, you don't have to monopolize the TV if you want to play games. The Xbox doesn't have as many great exclusives this time around (though it does have Halo, Gears Of War, and Forza Racing), but it will still get all the multiplatform games, is cheaper and the current bundles (especially the Gears Of War / Ori / Rare Replay bundle) are great for the price. Plus the MS store and various retailers are giving really good deals with buy a bundle and get free games.
However, if you just want to stay with Steam, you can also try the Steamlink with the Steam Controller and stream your games to the TV

Or the Love Shack located smack-dab in your own Private Idaho. That is where I keep my Rock Lobster.

Except it wasn't. It exploded on a Starship in the middle of a nebula and created a planet which Spock's body landed on, resurrecting him.

FTFY.

There is still a belief that Kylo Ren may be Jar-Jar. Just look at the mask. Only time will tell.

Really? I just tried it for the lulz and it was pop in disc, and select the disc from the main menu. Aliens was playing in all of 10 seconds.
I believe that was the Naboo Genocide level on Battlefront 2. I believe there was also one for Ewoks and Jawas as well.
That really was a sweet game made for the fans. Just too bad for the crappy ship battles.
