Bondi is a beach? Man all this time I thought it was a patch of sand near some water. You wanna see real beaches, head up to the Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast. That's a real beach for ya.
According to the RIAA and MPAA, people choosing to use the GFS are likely using it to distribute copyright information, therefore they are disobeying the laws of the DCMA:-) </sarcasm>
Why do you people insist on basing the fate of linux based on the commercialisation of the OS? And I really like the numbers you are pulling out of your ass, HTF did you get them? So you're saying that you've statistically analysed the linux base on quotes from Mandrake, Usenet, etc.? Get real!
Linux is far from dying. As I see it, the OS is growing in popularity. There are dozens of new companies taking part in development for Linux which you don't have the slightest idea about.
About about Linux's final survival as a hobbyist OS - it was created from there and so it ain't so bad if it were still there. It's not gonna die anytime soon, particularly it's not dead! you windoze lover.
NB I am a FreeBSD user, but I get sick of hearing FUD like this - which I know is flaimebait
Australian IT recently reported that Aussie researchers managed to isolate stem cells from adult brains since the brain always has to replenish the memory and sight areas.
It is unlikely that AMD will drop Hypertransport. It is far superior to 3GIO for connectivity as a bridge, with better performance scalability. 3GIO's main benefit is that it can expand to connect a wider range of things besides the local bus, like networking. Most like is that AMD will use Hypertransport to bridge the CPU and 3GIO.
I am curious as to how name entries will be entered for addresses based on MAC. So what if the adapter dies or you get a new MAC? what happens to the name?
For added security, you should rub on some poison paste around the closet. At least that way if the thief ever gets to it, he won't be far away:-)

Adobe Backs Down

Agreed totally. We can't celebrate anything, it's simply the mouth of Adobe saying that they are backing off. Absolutely nothing has happened yet.
As for conferences, I live in Australia and the government here is a bunch of chickens who follow the laws of the US. There are FBI agencies running around this country enforcing US laws. I do hope that the DCMA does not have a substantial affect as that in the US, otherwise conference organisers here would have to be cautious of content.
Mum: Johnny, are you gonna take that gameboy with you to class? Johnny: Yes mum, the researcher said I'll pay better attention if I play games.
Mum: Ok.
Mum: Johnny, start doing your homework or you'll have no time.
Johnny: Mum! The researcher told me that playing games will improve my intelligence so I'll be able to do my homework much faster!
Mum: Ok
Mum: Johnny, turn the game machine off and go play with your friends.
Johnny: But mum, the researcher said that I'll have improved social interactivity if I play games. [*BANG* *BANG* *NUKE*]
Mum: Ok
Mum: Johnny, it's time for dinner!
Johnny: But mum, according to the research I'll be able to improve my bodily interactions if I play games, so I'll be able to adjust to hunger.
Mum: Ok.
If they are so concerned simply because of the emotion engine, why then are they not worried about PC technology? Comon, Sony's CPU is slower by the day in comparison to PC chips. I don't believe that the Chinese don't run PC chips for one minute. Add on an extra CPU to get SMP and now you have one freagin fast machine with capabilities far beyond the touted Sony hot cpu core.
I simply don't understand the stupidity of some people. And as if people don't share information these days - there's always a black trade somewhere, and I reckon most likely in corrupted governmental bodies
It's quite funny how long it could've takent to build each pyramid, and there are many of them. Yet there was no attempt at bringing down the words as to how they built it. So why doesn't each younger pyramid look crappier than its predecessor? There must be some record as to how each got built, kinda like instructions. But no, a civilisation such as Egypt would take it's time painting pictures rather than save the details as to how to build monstrous beasts.
That's probably why their nation died from power. Lack of knowledge throughout the ages... kinda funny, I've always thought you build upon knowledge - not lose it.
I don't really care how they built the damn things. Since no facts are available, everything will remain a theory. Unless told otherwise by Aliens:-)
After seeing so much crap about Compaq, I conclude that they should end up at f*ckedcompany.com. Seriously, when you've got nothing left to sell, and killed off all your good developers, you might as well end up in the dumps.
The only respect for them I have left was their original intent of making the PC public, but this was years ago.
:-) Compaq has a strange way of trying to grab the market. I believe they want to only rid the world of DEC. Let's see:
Buy a high-tech company that produces products far superior to anything available (DEC).
Attempt to stop supporting an OS that presumably no one uses except for large organisations that'll pay heaps to continue the product(VMS).
Change the name of an OS that kicks ass to Tru64 which no one cares less what the Tru means. It's freagin UNIX for goodness sakes.
Start kicking off people with the know how who have been researching vigorously to create new products (original DEC employees).
Hire a whole bunch of loooozers who know nothing except marketing ploys and new starters who have never worked with real tech before (a whole buncha WinDoze Luzers)
Kill off Alpha, because it's no longer a fad when it's really a killer platform.
I've always believed that any O-O language is flawed at being an introduction to computer programming. Lets face it, computers internally do not represent programs as real world objects. What I mean is why do we want the students to think in terms of real world when they no crap-all about the runnings of the computer.
My brother studies at the University of Queensland, Australia. His first semester subject was Java. What has he learned so far about computers? Nothing. He was not taught how computers run programs, does not know how what compilation is (even though he presses the compile button). All he knows is Java. This is a very bad way of teaching students.
In another situation, QUT (Queensland Uni of Tech) also teaches Java as a first year language. And guess what? students know jack-all about computers.
So I ask what is the usefulness of teach such an abstract language is for? Students then become bewildered when they enter the realm of understanding computer internals.
Please save their souls. They really need to understand computer fundamentals before going through abstract languages like OO.

Yah, the chinese government could do a distributed network once people are connected over the net via the PS2 :-) Imagine what would happen...
