remember, subaru is in business of making hardware. in fact they encourage fine tuning, modding etc (thats why hondas are so popular among tweakers). on the other hand microsoft is here to make money on software (game licencing). as the matter of fact i microsoft is even losing money on the xbox hardware itself (so is sony on ps2) not sure about exact number (btw. xbox costs most to make - out of other gaming consoles)
their main concern is that people who mod xboxes also pirate games. lets face it, thats what 80% of people get their xbox modded for. instead of alienating the eintre tweaker comunity they should just employ different anti-piracy techniques.
take counter-strike/half-life for example: you buy a game and a cd-key. you can play cs w/ your buddies w/ a warez cd-key but thats no fun. when you want to go online and play everyone else you have to have a legit copy. cheating is not an issue either because it can be detected on the server (a bullet that just went through 4 walls) so thats not an issue either (bad game design on microsoft's side?)
of course it can be a pain to enter your 15 digit cd-key using the controller...
imagine buying a car. get it delivered to your house. start it up and... damn! theres no transmission.
doesnt ever happen. why? because its common sense that you need a transmission, clutch etc to drive a car. it also is common sense you need software to use the computer. of course, after your car gets delivered you can run to the store and buy your favorite transmission, or even build and install it yourself.
however, 99.999% of people buy they cars with a transmission. and most of them pay $1000 extra so they can just put it in drive and press the gas pedal. unfortunately linux is not nearly there yet. at this point linux is a Mack truck with 18 gears:-)
my copmany is developing a colaboration app in perl for internal use. i was recently approached by management asking if there is a possibility for resale of the application weve been developing for quite some time now.
of course theres a big problem with very nature of perl... its an interpreted language. how would someone go around to resell something like a perl script and then prevent people from freely distributing it? only other modules its using is CGI::Application and all the data are stored in mysql database.
does anyone have experience w/ reselling compiled perl binaries?
i cant stand the stupid mac keyboard, for those that touch type, did you guys notice that those raised bumps you position your hands on are instead on F and J where its supposed to be on D and K keys? wtf is up with that? i curse every time i sit down in front of a mac:-)
what i really want is os X on pc platform. sweet gui, linux and i can build my own. oc/tweak whatever i want:-)
my highschool has about 400 computers, they are all dells, 450mhz 128mb ram, 100bt network. they run unreal tournament pretty good too. geek dream
we used to play ut after school with about 15 people and it was really sweet. i attempted to organize tournament night and charge admission to do some fundraising - for a good cause. well, everything went well (we got 30 people signed up with clans and everything) until the principal freaked out and banned unreal tournament. only game we could play was one that doesnt involve any people dying, firearms, or any cruelty whatsoever. that means all fps, even strategy games are out. not even worms were allowed! worms! game of blowing up little pink things with bazookas! so thats about it... we can play something like... chess? SUX!
currently im @Home subscriber. i was pissed off when i realized that my service was shut down... i fooled around a little and realized that the service itself is working, just @home dns servers are down. what does that mean? use some other dns server;-)

correct me if im wrong, but is USPTO's website http://patft.uspto.gov/ violating the patent it issued?
T O1&Sect2=HITOFF&d=PALL&p=1&u=/netahtml/srchnum.htm &r=1&f=G&l=50&s1=%275,576,951%27.WKU.&OS=PN/5,576, 951&RS=PN/5,576,951
if you go to to http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=P
