Hopefully the teens you speak of don't read Slashdot, or come Monday morning there's gonna be a linear induction arms race between the geeks and jocks.
In Physics 1 we did the ticker-tape velocity thing. Recently my friend made a more accurate system with his Lego Mindstorms. He built a cart, ran the rear axle through a rotation sensor, and used a Visual Basic application to record the data. He's working of a script to dump the data into Excel, and automatically graph it.
I got an idea for a way to do menu systems with this. Display a grid on the screen with an item in each box. You look at the box you want to select, and wink. It sounds stupid, but I think it's a valid idea.
Could you GPL your work before submitting it? As I understand it, once it is GPL'd it cannot be revoked. What are they going to do, refuse to accept your work because it is GPL'd?
OK. I'm 16. I first played wolfenstein at 7 years? Played Doom2, Rise of the Triads and many others at 10. Bought Goldeneye (MA) at 12-13. The Matrix (M) is my favourite movie. I saw Three Kings (MA) when I was 14. I'm a nerd. I'm quiet, and often seem depressed.
Australian ratings: M - suggested 15 years and older. MA - restricted to 15 years and older.
According to these people, I should have shot up my school long ago. In America I would probably be suspended if administration found out about some of the comments I have made.
Contrary to what people say here, my parents provide little, although some, support. This is where I would like to acknowledge my best friend and sounding board, Rhys Tate.
Also, I wouldn't know where to start about getting a gun. I would never kill or seriously injure another person, if only because of the consequences.
I play violent video games, watch violent films, I'm a nerd but have not shot up my school, and wouldn't know where to begin if I wanted to.
I'm in year 11 in Mulbourne, Australia, just read 1984, and this scares my shitless, quite frankly. How long until this system is implemented here? And the system administrators are all completely incompetent. Hacking is rife among the students, and we have NO formal qualifications, against the "qualifications" of the sys admin.
The parents of kids whow ould benifit from this kind of system would look anyway, so it is pointless in that respect.
I think that some kind of test needs to be developed, and people who can pass that are legally adults. There are complete idiots over 18, who should have any of the rights, and people like me and my friends, who are well under 18, and would love these rights.
The thing that worries me most is that this system is being applied to people who have done nothing wrong, who have no way to fight bak. Is the goernment trying to force my generation to accept monitoring? It's coming true, and only 17 years later than predicted.
School teaches me little "real-world" knowledge. I wouldn't touch drugs, and I know all about safe drinking and sex. But, if my car broke down in a desert, I could die, as I can't change a fanbelt. Jump start, change a tyre. I don't know how to write a cheque, get a loan, open a bank account.
As for this "won't somebody PLEASE think of the children!!" (whoa, flashbacks to Mrs. Lovejoy on the Simpsons), children from previous generations had much more freedom, and they aren't screwed up. I think that we will end up more screwed up because of this "save the children" mentality. Is the human race doomed? I think in all likelihood, yes.

Blood pie? You'd have to aim for Kronos, the Klingon homeworld then, wouldn't you?

Will I be able to send by DVD-ROM back to Matshita to get it made region free? Or will they release an approved and supported firmware update?
