  1. Re:Extensions? No extensions? on Windows 7 Users Warned Over Filename Security Risk · · Score: 0

    You don't get his point.

He's saying that if you have extensions hidden, then you will only see "partyinvite" and you will never see "partyinvite.doc". So if you see ".doc", you should know that something is wrong.

(As a side note, how does anyone in Mac or a default Windows installation know that something is an application and not a document? In both cases, the extension is hidden, so the user has to look at additional information provided by shell. Looking at the extension in this case is simply not reliable since they don't even show up. In addition, both Mac OS and Windows now provide a warning dialogue the first time you run an application to warn you that it is executable. So I really don't see how the problem cited in this article should be considered a vulnerability.)

The People's Daily is a state-run paper that is usually full of articles about how much students and peasants love the government and how Falun Gong is a dangerous cult. Interesting if they are accelerating the program, but the source is pretty sketchy.

Um... no.... have you ever read the newspaper? What you said is simply untrue.

Um... I think you should stop replying before embarassing yourself even further. It is obvious that you're either incredibly dumb or you didn't bother reading before you replied. I specificially asked for people who "develop windows". Everyone knows that core windows development is done only on Microsoft's main campus in Redmond. How many offices they have elsewhere is irrelevant. In fact, they're mostly research and sales offices.

No you're a moron. Do you work for Microsoft and develop windows? Who cares if you're at work if you have no effect on Winodws, Microsoft, or KB. If anyone outside of Redmond can answer yes to my first question, then I stand corrected.

This is nothing more than a gimmick for schools desperate to get students. None of the top schools in the country like Stanford, Harvard, Yale, Princeton, MIT, etc. offer free computers. Nor do they require students to have one.

    A couple of things:

    1) Illiteracy in China is MUCH lower than most developing countries --- A great feat, especially if you considering the huge population and the large size of China. Also, it is almost nonexistent in the cities.

    2) Your grammar is horrible. It takes more than just looking up translations in the dictionary to write Chinese.

    3) How can you say you like Chinese food if you are so prejudiced against the people who make them?
