if i had a dvdrw i would not be using it to write CDRs (that much). the sole purpose of the dvdrw is for large backups or to contribute to your personal collection of "backed-up" dvd movies.
what about apple and their risc procesors. http://www.apple.com/powermac/ their server w 2 800mhz cpu's kicks out 11.8gflpops of data. thats plenty to run a kick ass linix box.
the industry doest compare them at the same standard.
the speed of the cpu is not the only thing you need to have a great system. for example i had a p3 600(katmai 512k chache) and it was running just as good if not better than the 1.2ghz i have now. now whats is worong with that ??
just imagine... a beowulf cluster to raise an obelisk. did they have the know how to raise a big ass rock with a kite? we didnt get around to flying till the wright bothers. and flying or using uing that to move multi ton rock might have been a wee bit too radical idea at the time.. unless they bribed the aliens and signed a contract to build the pyramids for them in exchange to thousands of years of abductions.

well russia and the US are the only 2 that i know of that are capable of space flight. but countries like canada, japan, and i think france are also contributing modules to the ISS.

now if they could get the compatibility issue figured out... this damn thing might work. sound like its gonna fail or blow up or someting like in the apollo 13 mission.
