    Realy?

Think of M$Linux which is the only linux to run M$Office.

who forces you to work on GPL code ?
People who chose to release their code under GPL want to be sure that no one ELSE can sell their work.

If they want to make money out of their work they won't use GPL.

Maybe it has to do with Human Rights.

Some companys think Copyright gives them the monopoly control to content, from now to eternity.

I dont think copyright should be like that.

    Come on this is nonsens.
DVDs are MPEG encoded. If I play them on my PC I dont care if it is NTSC or PAL or whatever.

And with the language - have you ever compared a movies German translation with the original English language ?

Translations (especialy to German) suck so buy a original US DVD and learning English is worth the effort.

You were just kidding us with your post ?

As I remember Microsoft will show source only to "selected customers". I don't believe such "special" people will discuss "native" API with their competitors.

Normally society sets up moral standards.
What if you write hot loveletter emails to someone. Maybe something like email sex and those emails ring some alarmbells in security filters of a country/state where such a converstion is illegal ?
Later you decide to visit that country without knowing, they will treat you as a criminal and arrest you ?

For me privacy is one human right period.

  9. Yes sure I do ! on UK Government Locks Out Non-MS Browsers · · Score: 1

Ok I tested the site with Konqueror and Netscape 4.76 on my SuSE 7.1 Linux system.

No chance to get in with my first try.

    Why ?

A page popped up which told me to use Windows 9x/NT/2000 or Mac OS.

That is the point that Joe dumbuser will reach.

If I tell konqueror to identify to the site as MSIE 5.5 on Win98 I manage to get in (and to figure this out is no trivial task to my father or my wife). And best of all I really can see an accurate page. No problem for my browser to view the Page. And therefore no reason to keep me out of it.

And that is the kind of FUD I hate. They check which browser and OS you use and say you cant use this site. No chance because of your wrong system and browser that is not working with this content ?!?

But my Konqueror on Linux can view the start page ....

Even if I only want to look at some content. If I dont want to do real "usefull" things, I will be thrown out of the club.

btw. If this would happen in germany, payed with my money (tax I payed to the government). I would stand up and fight for my right to use the content for which I have paid with my tax.
Use it without beeing forced to buy a special software.

    greetings Harald
