    Actually RADIUS can do that. The proxies are for tracking your activity.

  3. In much common usage a "scripting language" is that one you don't like and a "real programming language" is one you use yourself. People call languages scripting languages as if it's a pejorative. It's sad, really, that they don't understand that their subjective tastes have no bearing on the distinction.

    OP brought up CSS, so it was never about just programming languages.

    Yes, CSS3 is Turing complete. Likewise, a the cooling fan in my PC's power supply moves itself but is not an automobile.

    My dog would really like a pony, too. Sometimes the world doesn't work the way we want for our own little special interests. The politicians all rant and rave about special interest groups. What's a more special interest than wanting to weaken security of everyone worldwide just so your job is a little easier?

    Why bother saying where the content is collected if it's fake? Wouldn't it be more effective to say they weren't authentic than agreeing they were real leaks and that the DNC is just not okay with the Russians leaking them?

    It's odd that nobody in the press seems to be holding anyone's feet to the fire about the contents. Nobody's disavowed the contents. We got one useless resignation after her apparent goal was already apparently successful -- get Clinton nominated at all costs.

    You may want to check out cperl or rperl. There's also a lot of work going on for performance with Perl6 and in some simple programs it's already faster than Perl5.

    Rakudo can output JavaScript source as one of its backends. Getting that to do WebAssembly isn't an unreasonable idea. It also supports the JVM and MoarVM (its primary target).

    This was done up through Perl5 because the sigil is for what you're getting back from the expression rather than how it was originally stored. It's something Perl6 changes -- you access a hash with % or an array with @ even if you're just taking one item from it.

    Learn Bash. Then realize that Perl was based on Bash, Awk, C, sed, and BASIC-Plus with some nods to Icon/SNOBOL.

    Then you'll understand that Bash's punctuation variables are Perl's punctuation variables. The regex syntax is largely borrowed then built upon.

    Basically it's like you're decrying JavaScript or C++ for using curly brackets and semicolons after being built to look familiar to C programmers.

    It's actually not falling out of use. There are more users than ever. There are more programmers overall than ever, though, and its market share has shrunk as more of the new programmers go to other languages than to Perl.

    Perl's market share has dropped. Its usage in raw numbers is actually still rising, but not as quickly as that of some other languages.

    There are plenty of malware packages in PHP, Perl, Python, and Ruby that will search for vulnerable web apps, infiltrate a hosting account, then set up web-accessible shells written in the same languages and continue on to find more vulnerable apps and accounts.
