  1. Re:interesting... on New Jersey Enacts 'Smart Gun' Law · · Score: 1

I can't imagine a police officer not wanting this tech. for his personal gun. This way he can go after a suspect without having to worry that his gun might be used against him. Even if the criminal gets the upper hand the gun would be rendered useless.

  2. The Xbox is Microsoft's test of Palladium on New "Secure" Xbox Cracked In Under A Week · · Score: 5, Funny

Don't you get it? The Xbox is Microsoft's test case for Palladium. They try their best to secure the Xbox and wait for the hackers to bust it. They keep on doing this until they find a way to lock it down to the point were nobody can hack it. Then they role out Palladium with all the safe-guards in place and hacker tested. You XBox hackers are just a tool of Microsoft!

  4. Is a "Text Only" link so bloody hard? on Blind User Sues Southwest Over Web Site, Cites ADA · · Score: 2, Informative

You know, not everything has to be graphics and flash cartoons. I remember the day (God, do I sound old) when all good websites had a plain text link for people with slow modems and vision problems. Hell, I use to browse the Web with lynx!

Normally I don't like lawsuits but if it will force designers to make pages that not only look nice but are usable then I'm all for it.

  5. Does anyone find it ironic... on Effects of the Patriot Act on Librarians · · Score: 5, Interesting

Does anyone else find it ironic that the certain government interest groups are currently running television ads that attempt to show what American life would be like if certain liberties were taken away?

One of these commericals shows a young man walking up to a clerk at a library and asking for a series of books. When he's told that those books are no longer available he's asked for his name. He becomes clearly upset and attempts to leave when he's taken away by a group of men in dark suits.Seems the futures a lot closer then anyone else suspected.

  6. Passive blocking of cell phones in select areas on NYC Law Aims To Ban Cell Phones In Theatres · · Score: 2, Interesting

What about those wooden panels that contain magnetic material that block cell phone transmissions developed by Hideo Oka? As long as there are signs that clearly state that cell phones are useless within the confines of the theater and maybe an agreement on the back of each ticket all our problems are solved.

Hell, if your life is so damn important that you have to be able to ruin my trip to the movies with your noise then maybe you shouldn't be wasting your time in the theater in the first place...

  7. Re:This is NOT a good thing. on LinuXbox Boots · · Score: 1

Micosoft losses money on each XBox sold. They make up the money by selling games. By buying an XBox and running non-microsoft software you're costing them money.

  8. The 700 club is on our side - Number of the Beast on Feds Open 'Total' Tech Spy System · · Score: 1

The best way to defeat this idea in the court of public opinion is to compare it with the fabled Mark of the Beast (666) from the book of Revelations.

"He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name. This calls for wisdom. If anyone has insight, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is man's number. His number is 666" (Rev. 13:16-18).

Since the Religious Right is the Republicans bread and butter if they can be convinced that such a national database is a tool of Satan it will become too much of a hot potato for them to handle.

  9. Biggest flaw - No TV out ports! on Mac PVR Coming Soon · · Score: 2, Insightful

The biggest problem with the EyeTV is not its choice of USB over Firewire but its lack of RCA/S-Video outputs. I don't want to watch TV on my computer!

From what I've heard the software is top notch, free TV guide, ability to pause live TV, etc... but its useless unless you like to watch all of your shows in a tiny window on your computer's screen.

I was one of those guys. I downloaded all the chapters for King's online book, The Plant. Didn't pay a penny. But you know what? I like it and decided to try other of King's books. Got the Dead Zone and The Mist...both were quite entertaining. And I would never have bought them if I had not had the chance to read some of King's works for free.

Great! Now the army is stealing ideas from bad 80's TV shows. I just saw an episode of Scarecrow and Ms. King that featured an idea very similar to what's stated in the article. It was an RV instead of an SUV but the concepts the same. Shame it does not have wood-paneling...
